Book Review: Taking the Demon’s Vow by Mira Cross (A Deal with the Devil Book 0)

Genre: Paranormal Romance / Demon Fantasy Romance

Tropes: Fated Mates, Demon Summoning, Deal with a Demon, Touch-Her-and-Die MMC, Survival Pact, Forced Proximity, Prequel Novella

Spice Level: ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ

Format: eBook

Series: A Deal with the Devil Book 0

Starving and desperate Serenity holes up in an abandoned home where she finds a book. Summon a demon and make a deal for your wildest dreams. Almost collapsing from hunger and the cold she completes the summoning just before blacking out. When she comes to she is warm and fed. He recognizes her as his fated mate immediately, but knows a deal must be struck since he was summoned. Survival in exchange for her traveling his world with him as his assistant.

This is a prequal to a series I have not read, but that I can already tell I will love when I get around to reading the rest of it. This is a little under 200 pages of fated mates, demons, brewing war, deals made, and smut. I have read plenty of demon human smut, but the dealmaker magic was unique and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

The main characters are both wonderful, but the touch her and die male? Always going to be the choice. I don’t want to say too much about the book and give away everything as it is a shorter read. I really want to know what is going to happen with the kingdom, because war is definitely brewing. I will absolutely be reading on in this series at some point. I really loved all the descriptive sceneries and animals that we meet along the way. That was probably my favorite part, honestly.

This book is available on Amazon for FREE by clicking here.

๐Ÿ”ฅ You’ll love this book if you enjoy:

  • Demon × human fated mates
  • Summoning rituals and magical contracts
  • Touch-her-and-die possessiveness
  • Forced proximity travel dynamics
  • Explicit, high-heat paranormal romance
  • Prequel novellas that set up epic series arcs
  • Brewing war and supernatural politics

If you’re in the mood for a spicy demon romance with survival stakes and powerful fated-mate energy, this prequel absolutely delivers.

Book Review: Vengeful Devotion by Morgan Elliott (Wicked Souls Book 1)

Genre: Contemporary Dark Romance / Mafia Romance

Tropes: He Falls First, Mafia King, Runaway Heroine, Touch-Her-and-Die, Protective Alpha, Found Safety in the Underworld, Trauma Recovery

Spice Level: ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ (High – explicit open-door scenes)

Format: eBook

Series: Wicked Souls Book 1

Content Notes: Implied sexual assault (past), childhood trauma, murder, explicit sexual content

Gemma had finally escaped a monster and decided to travel to Vegas. It would be a great place to lay low and start over. However, after a night of disasters while waiting tables she was offered a job as assistant to Mrs. McBride and comes face to face with the King of Vegas. He is a monster of a different flavor, but could he be a secret to her freedom or just another temporary stop before fleeing the country?

Facebook ads made me get it and I loved it. This is a contemporary dark romance mafia book where he falls first. Trigger warnings: implied sexual assault, childhood trauma, open door spice scenes, and murder. Now that those are out of the way this book was amazing.

We start by following Gemma as she escaped from her Uncle and fled to almost the other side of the country. Thinking she found a place to blend in and keep her head down until she makes enough money to get to another country and out of her uncles clutches permanently. I love that we get snippets of both main characters backgrounds as the story unfolds. We know things exactly when the author wants us to versus all the background information at once.

The spice is real, the action is amazing, and the protectiveness is top tier. I didn’t think for a second what her uncle wanted was going to happen and I love the way this all played out. The book ends on a bit of a cliff-hanger in that there is still much more to their story because of the decisions made. That being said, Declan and Gemma’s story is well wrapped and I am hoping her cousin gets to be in book 2.

I will absolutely be reading on in this series at some point.

This book is available on Kindle Unlimited or buy it on Amazon for $2.99 by clicking here.

You’ll love this book if you enjoy:

  • Mafia romance with a powerful crime boss MMC
  • He-falls-first energy
  • Runaway heroines escaping abusive pasts
  • Touch-her-and-die protectiveness
  • Explicit, high-heat romance
  • Trauma recovery arcs
  • Action-packed romantic suspense
  • Series with interconnected character potential

If you’re craving a dark Vegas mafia romance with obsession, protection, and high-stakes revenge, this is absolutely worth the read.

Book Review: The Heiress Auction by Evie Croft (The Heiress Merger Book 1)

Genre: Contemporary Romance / Why Choose (Reverse Harem)
Tropes: Marriage of Convenience, Inheritance Clause, Charity Auction Date, Best Friends to Lovers (Potential), Ex’s Best Friend, Love Triangle (or More), Cliffhanger Ending
Spice Level: ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ (High – explicit, open-door scenes throughout)
Format: eBook
Series: The Heiress Merger

Katherine is just waiting on her inheritance to be able to be her own person without dealing with her mother’s whims. However, a new stipend has come to light. Katherine must marry in order to get her inheritance from her grandfather. With no prospects on the horizon she agrees to go to her mother’s charity event and be auctioned off for a date to the highest bidder. Enter Gabe, her sleazy ex, and Gabe’s best friend. The bidding is off, but who will win her date?

I get caught by the Facebook Ads a lot and this is yet another instance of that happening. This is a contemporary romance why choose/reverse harem. We start the book with zero prospects, but hoping for her best friend. Then she has a date with 2 best friends. When it comes to choosing that isn’t a concern. I am still holding out hope that this will turn into a MMFM with the best friend and sword crossing.

I loved this book and all of the spice. There is plenty of it with explicit scenes. Including some fun in a maze at her families house. Absolutely no judgement there. That being said, the book ends on a cliffhanger where the best friend shows up and professes his undying love but she tells him it is too little too late. Really hoping it’s not because he was a jerk but I kinda already love him.

Book Review: Abducting Sarah by Brenna Sinclair (Planet Orhon Alien Romance Book 1)

Genre: Sci-Fi Romance / Paranormal Romance
Tropes: MMF Romance, Alien AbductionMarriage of Convenience, Fated Mates Vibes, Ghost Communication, Royal Intrigue
Spice Level: ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ (explicit MF scenes; open-door throughout)
Format: eBook
Series: Planet Orhon Alien Romance Book 1

Sarah has always seen things that aren’t there. Her fiancรฉ has made sure to help her with this issue by making sure she takes her medications. Once she is stable they will finally have their wedding. When Sarah tells him that she feels she is being followed he causes her of stopping her medications, but her disappearance shortly thereafter means she was right…and maybe she wasn’t as crazy as thought. Jac and Deacon introduce her to this alien world, but Sarah isn’t convinced it is real. That being said, this hallucination has the best orgasms.

This is a MMF sci-fi romance complete with aliens, powers, ghosts, and so very much smut. That smut absolutely includes sword crossing, although that scene is not explicit unlike the MF scenes. We have a marriage of convenience, but the smut starts almost immediately. We go from Sarah being followed to her being taken care of almost immediately and since she is convinced it is all a hallucination she is okay with that.

This is an odd one only in that Deacon was engaged to Silence who was having an affair with his father. She got pregnant. Her father found out and killed his dad. Deacon didn't blame his dad and instead vowed to free Silence from the royal prison, take her to Halla where his dad's ghost lives, and let them live out their lives with his new consort there since she can also see and communicate with ghosts. What could possibly go wrong.

Although the premise was a bit odd I really enjoyed the book and all the scenes within. Be them sexual or action based. This book does end on a cliff-hanger that was a bit upsetting, especially for Sarah. I really hope they can get it all fixed and Silence can go do her own thing because absolutely not. I don't care how much honor and duty there is that is going to be a hard no. It really needs fixed immediately. Trying to be vague while venting frustrations here.

This book is available on Kindle Unlimited or buy it on Amazon for $3.99 by clicking here

๐Ÿš€ You’ll love this book if you enjoy:

  • MMF sci-fi romance
  • Alien abduction with a twist
  • Unreliable narrators questioning reality
  • Marriage of convenience tropes
  • Ghost communication and supernatural powers
  • Royal intrigue and messy political drama
  • ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ spice
  • Cliffhangers that demand the sequel

If you’re looking for a smut-heavy sci-fi romance that blends alien worlds, ghostly powers, and chaotic relationship dynamics, this one definitely delivers.

Book Review: Queen of Wildcards by Heleva Risquรฉ (Queens of Khula City Book 1)

Genre: Dark Romance / Reverse Harem (Why Choose)
Tropes: Kidnapped Heroine, Why Choose, Criminal Underworld, Morally Black MMCs, Stockholm Syndrome Vibes, Touch-Her-and-Die, Forced Proximity
Spice Level: Very High (explicit and frequent)
Format: eBook
Series: Queens of Khula Book 1

Malory is no stranger to the underworld, but she has learned to cope by being an online therapist to help others with their problems. When she gets a last minute SoS call as she is about to clock out for the night she makes the split second decision that changes her life forever. Joker comes on the screen drunk and needing to get some sordid details off his chest. The result is him getting something else off instead. Ace, intent on keeping his crew from being ratted out to the cops by this online therapist tracks her down. The crew kidnap her and bring her back to their compound with absolutely no clue what to do with her.

I stumbled upon this book and oh my goodness. There is a gun scene in this book that is to die for. It is a why choose/reverse harem and honestly? She should never have to choose. Each of these men are deliciously wicked and I loved every single page of this book. When I say I devoured this very spicy and very explicit book would be an understatement.

This book does not end on a cliff-hanger and I will absolutely be needing more from this author in the future. There is a very Stockholm syndrome vibe that I am here for. She falls for her kidnappers going from caged and afraid to their queen. It was wonderful and I could not have been happier with discovering this book.

My favorite, without question, was Blackjack. A traumatized man who can’t handle being touched, but is drawn to the caged beauty? Sign me all the way up. And what he is packing-even if it isn’t Ace’s gun? Also a yes. Although, we can’t forget about Spade who will fight anyone who looks at his woman and is the first to get a taste. I will absolutely be needing more by this author post haste.

๐Ÿ–ค You’ll love this book if you enjoy:

  • Why choose / reverse harem romance
  • Dark criminal underworld settings
  • Kidnapped heroine × obsessive antiheroes
  • Stockholm syndrome-style relationship arcs
  • Touch-her-and-die possessiveness
  • Explicit, high-heat romance
  • Standalones with satisfying endings

If you’re looking for a dark, spicy romance where the heroine turns captivity into a throne and the antiheroes fall hard, this one is a wild ride

Book Review: An Enchanting Song by Jessica Lauryn (Rabourn Theater Book 5)

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Tropes: Enemies to Lovers, Redemption Arc, Family Legacy, Small-Town Theater, Second Chances, Secret Agenda, Former Villain MMC
Spice Level: Medium (romance-forward with emotional depth)
Format: eBook
Series: Rabourn Theater Book 5

Sebastian Nathanson has been plotting to take the Rabourn Theater back since he was in high school. He has always loved the theatre, even if not this specific play-house. Still, the Rabourn belongs to his family. His father, Augustus, was adamant about that and that it went back into their clutches. Even with his father dead Sebastian will stop at nothing to get the theater. After successfully undermining the last few plays the theatre put on he knows they are close to having to close permanently. It is close enough that they are going to be putting on a show written by his father that hasn’t been performed in the theater’s history. In comes Madelyn Bennett who has lived a sheltered life, but is one of the most prolific singers that has ever graced this stage. But, Madelyn also has her own secret agenda.

I received a copy of this eBook from this author in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book as it wraps up the entire series nicely. We have finally went through all of the background characters and the story is resolved. I couldn’t ask for a better close to this set that I enjoyed every step of.

Sebastian was hated more than any other character throughout this series, so I am glad he got his redemption arc. He was awful, especially to Alicia in book 1, but he did go to jail and things have turned around. I really liked the addition of Madelyn. We seen details about a woman that made the two men who were once friends end forever and I love that we got to see all the ins and outs with what really happened there.

This is not a book you can read as a standalone. If you haven’t already, go back and read book 1 and make your way through. While these books are not available on Kindle Unlimited they are more than worth the read. I will definitely be reading more by this author in the future if given the chance.

๐ŸŽฌ You’ll love this book if you enjoy:

  • Enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance
  • Former villain redemption arcs
  • Theater and performing arts settings
  • Family legacy and inheritance drama
  • Secret agendas and emotional reveals
  • Series finales that tie up every storyline
  • Character-driven romance with meaningful growth

If you love watching a morally flawed hero earn his redemption against the dramatic backdrop of a struggling theater, this series finale hits all the right emotional notes.

Book Review: Ugly Girl by Mary E. Twomey (Faite Falling Book 1)

Genre: Romantasy / Urban Fantasy Romance
Tropes: Ugly Duckling Transformation, Hidden Identity, Magical Awakening, Best Friends, Kidnapped Heroine, Love Triangle Potential, Secret World Reveal
Spice Level: None (romantic tension only)
Format: Novel (Series Starter)

Rosie has always been the Ugly girl with horrible acne and a literal hunchback. Her constants have always been her aunt who raised her since her mother died when she was a baby, and her best friend. When leaving the bar with her best friend her only keepsake from her mother is lost from around her neck. The search for it lead nowhere, but now she has bigger problems. Her hunch is gone, so is her acne, and she has boobs. Like massive boobs. Which would all be great if people weren’t trying to literally kidnap and kill her now claiming she is some kind of seeker

This book is adorable. We have a seemingly human girl who finds out that her literal entire life up till this point has basically been a lie. While she is hurt and a little upset with her Aunt about this she barely takes it out on her before forgiving her. I mean I kind of get it, she was acting in her best interest. At the same time, I don’t know that I could forgive as easily as she did for the decades of abuse she went through at the hands of her peers.

While the book is a romantasy it will keep you guessing on the type. Initially I hoped it was going to be a best friends to lovers book. The one person who ever stood by her side that wasn’t family getting her once she got hot and powerful. But, no. Then with the introduction of 2 kidnappers I thought it was going to be a why choose. Doesn’t seem to be the case, but the series is still early. So far, it seems like it is going to be a one on one book, but you won’t hear me complaining. She currently has options for her male, but is gravitating more towards one than the other.

While this is a romantasy there isn’t any spice in this book. I am sure there will be in the series, but currently there just hasn’t been any. That being said, I have books 2 and 3 in my library already and will read on in this series at some point.

๐Ÿ’ซ You’ll love this book if you enjoy:

If you’re in the mood for a sweet but chaotic romantasy about self-discovery, hidden power, and unexpected attention after a lifetime of invisibility, this one is a fun series starter.

Book Review: Daros by Dave Dobson

Genre: Young Adult Science Fiction

Tropes: Space Opera, Crash Landing Survival, Hidden Cargo, Alien Invasion, Missing Parent, Sentient AI, Coming-of-Age

Spice Level: None

Format: Novel (Works as a standalone; potential series starter)

Series: Currently listed as standalone

16 year old Brecca is on-board her father’s ship, Envy’s Price, and is heading to Daros to offload some cargo. Right before they land the planet goes under attack from space. Knowing the attack will shortly come to them as well, Brecca’s father hands her a small box letting her know this is a very important and expensive cargo and that she needs to take the escape pod and go topside. Once on the planet she needs to find any of the crew that may have survived the landing, her father, and their ship.

I received a physical copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is a very fast paced YA Sci-if book that will keep you on your toes. We follow Brecca as she crash lands onto a planet under attack, hides from the invaders, meets some natives, and discovers what the invaders are after and why.

I really enjoyed this book, although it did have a bittersweet ending. I hope for more details on what happened with the memories going forward if this book is continued into a series. I am trying to keep that detail as vague as possible as it is an end of the book type thing. This book does not end on a club-hanger and works well as a stand alone. It may even be a stand-alone. I am not really sure. There isn’t anything on Amazon about there being a second book for this.

I think that the characters we well done, although the ship’s AI was…frustrating to say the least. She had a very condescending personality and I was annoyed with her quickly. That being said, I will absolutely be reading more by this author in the future. In fact, I have another of his physical books sitting on my shelf ready for me to start at some point.

Book Review: The Easter Hunt by Kitty Thomas (Brian and Mina's Holiday Hits Book 1)

Genre: Dark Romance / Psychological Thriller

Tropes: Stockholm Syndrome, Captive Romance, Revenge Plot, Morally Gray MMC, Basement Captivity, Trauma Bond

Spice Level: Low–Medium (1 explicit scene; tension-driven rather than spice-heavy)

Format: Novella / Short Novel

Series: Brian and Mina's Holiday Hits

I have been in the basement with the monster for so long that the outside world is more of a concept. Now my monster has been taken by my worst nightmare. I must play his game to find him. I should be scared after everything he put me through, but I’m not. Now, it’s my turn for revenge.

Mina has been with Brian for quite some time now. He is the only one that makes her feel safe after the abuse she went through. She keeps to his basement in the Pleasure House and never leaves the grounds. Can’t in fact with her bindings that keep her safe. But when Brian’s newest job for the house leaves him missing she is the only one who is worried.

When a letter arrives telling her to follow the clues to find her man or leave him to die she will find him all right. And make sure this nightmare from her past never haunts her again.

This is not my first Kitty Thomas book. She seems to have a thing for Stockholm Syndrome in her books. When I read Comfort Food I didn’t get the draw, but now that is a book I truly enjoy and still think of fondly. I really need to go back and re-read it now that I like the darker reads.

This is a quick read, but no less exciting. There is only 1 sex scene, so there wasn’t a lot of spice. You won’t miss it though with a fast paced and exciting plot leading up to a bloody and satisfying ending. I look forward to more by this author in the future and can’t wait to find out all the details about Brian and Mira as it hints they get a larger book.

๐Ÿ–ค You’ll love this book if you enjoy:

  • Dark romance with morally gray (or morally black) characters
  • Captive/captor dynamics and psychological tension
  • Stockholm Syndrome–style relationships
  • Trauma bonds and twisted devotion
  • Revenge arcs with a violent edge
  • Plot-driven dark romance with limited spice
  • Short, intense reads you can devour in one sitting

If you’re drawn to dark psychological romance that explores obsession, captivity, and the blurred line between monster and protector, this one delivers a sharp, fast, and haunting experience.

Book Review: Resurrection by Michael Totten (Resurrection Book 1)

Genre: Post-Apocalyptic Horror / Zombie Thriller

Tropes: Amnesia, Infected but Aware, Found Survival Group, Supermarket Survivors, Hidden Secrets, “Too Good to Be True” Safe Haven

Spice Level: None

Format: Novel (Book One in a continuing series)

Series: Resurrection Book 1

A virus has spread starting on the West coast and quickly crippling the world. Communications are down, governments are gone, and it is everyone for themselves against these zombie-like creatures. Once turned there is no redemption…or is there?

Annie doesn’t remember anything from the last few months when she runs out of the woods covered in blood and is almost shot down. Will her memory comeback and if so will she keep her secret?

Sometimes a girl is just in the mood for a good zombie book and this one more than handles it. I love the trope of zombie books where it is someone who turned then regained their senses. Bonus points if they have memories while they were zombies. We have checked all the boxes and I loved it.

We follow Annie as she meets up with the crew from the supermarket, are overthrown, and as they make their way to a place that seems too good to be true. You will love and hate most of the characters in the book at one point in time or another.

While the book doesn’t end on a cliff-hanger it does end at a point that makes it very obvious that there is still so much left for the group. I hope for good things and will likely read on in the series at some point. Great fall read.

Book Review: Psycho Gods Book 6 by Jasmine Mas (Cruel Shifterverse Book 6)

Genre: Epic Fantasy Romance / Paranormal Romance

Tropes: Why Choose Romance, War Against the Gods, Found Family, Fated Mates, Groveling & Redemption, Powerful Heroine, Multi-Realm Politics

Spice Level: Medium–High (series builds emotional depth first; strong romantic payoff)

Format: Novel (must be read in order)

Series: Cruel Shifterverse Book 6

It has been decided. Aran, Mallum, Scorpio, Orion, John, and his brother are all the generals in this war. Sadie and her mates are right there with her to lead their infinitesimally small army against the ungodly. 100. That is all the manpower they get against this entire force. No reinforcements are coming. They have 100 people, including themselves, to remove all the ungodly from this world. Losing is not an option. All of the realms hang in the balance.

I love this series more than I have any right to. I have so many passages highlighted and am currently forcing my work bestie to read them right now (she is on book 2 in less than a week). Everything in these books is pure chaos and wonder. This book is no exception. These books CANNOT be read out of order. They must be read in order or you will have no idea what is going on. Especially this book.

Just trust me. These characters needed almost 2k pages to get to this point and I am sad those pages are done now. I genuinely hope that the author continues on with this series, maybe with Jinx. Would definitely be open to reading that. Although by this point there isn’t a single book this author has written that I haven’t read and loved. Like to the point she has another book in a new series coming out September 15th and it is already pre-ordered and added to my calendar.

Aran’s story is my favorite and I love all of the groveling that happens in this book. It is absolutely warranted. Oh. And her coming into her powers? Wonderful. We get a lot more of the brothers in this book and I officially came out of this book with a favorite realm. Which is rude because we got the demon realm for all of 5 seconds.

My absolute favorite part of this book is when Aran decides Mallum is a horse girl. I cackled when I read that. Literal favorite part.

๐Ÿ’ซ You’ll love this book if you enjoy:

  • Epic fantasy romance with world-ending stakes
  • Why choose / multiple love interests
  • Found family forged through battle
  • Powerful heroines claiming their magic
  • Groveling and redemption arcs that feel earned
  • Multi-realm political intrigue
  • Long, interconnected series with massive emotional payoff
  • Chaos, heartbreak, humor, and war-level tension

If you want a fantasy romance series that builds slowly, devastates you emotionally, and delivers a hard-earned, explosive finale—this one absolutely earns its place on your shelf

Book Review: You’re So Extra by Angela Casella (Finding You Book 1)

 Genre: Contemporary Romance

Tropes: Enemies to Lovers, Small Town Romance, Grumpy x Sunshine, Celebrity Romance, Family Feud, Forced Proximity

Spice Level: Low–Medium (a few open-door scenes, primarily plot-driven)

Format: Contemporary Romance Novel

Series: Finding You Book 1

When Delia signs on as an extra for the movie filming in her small town, she has one goal: finally get her high school crush—the now-famous leading man—to notice her. But instead of a dreamy reunion, she quickly realizes her former crush is… kind of a jerk. And in true rom-com fashion, she nearly runs over another extra while distracted by him. That “other extra” turns out to be Lucas. Lucas, who is technically her enemy. Well—his parents are. But she doesn’t know that yet.

What unfolds is a charming, Hallmark-style small-town romance layered with deeper emotional stakes. Lucas comes from the family whose greed led to the tragic death of Delia’s best friend, making trust almost impossible once the truth comes out. The tension between them shifts beautifully from awkward encounters to emotionally charged enemies-to-lovers chemistry.

This story delivers a soft grumpy x sunshine dynamic that feels organic and heartfelt. Delia is quirky, vibrant, and full of light—exactly the kind of heroine who brings warmth into Lucas’s guarded world. He isn’t looking for a relationship, and she certainly isn’t planning to fall for someone connected to so much pain. Yet watching them slowly lower their defenses is incredibly satisfying.

While there are a few spicy scenes, this is very much a plot-driven contemporary romance. The emotional journey, small-town charm, and layered character development take center stage over heat.

And the side characters? Absolute scene-stealers. The older woman in town was easily a standout and adds warmth, humor, and wisdom to the story. The subtle setup for the next book—featuring Lucas’s best friend and her granddaughter—has me genuinely excited for the continuation of this interconnected series.

This was my first book by this author, and it will not be my last. If you’re looking for a heartfelt, low-spice romance with enemies-to-lovers tension, emotional growth, and small-town movie-set charm, this is a delightful pick.

๐Ÿ’• You’ll love this book if you enjoy:

  • Small-town romances with cozy vibes
  • Enemies-to-lovers tension with emotional depth
  • Grumpy heroes softened by sunshine heroines
  • Movie-set or celebrity-adjacent storylines
  • Plot-driven romance with light spice
  • Interconnected series with teased future couples
  • Found family and memorable side characters

If you’re craving a sweet but emotionally layered contemporary romance that feels like a Hallmark movie with just a touch more heat, this one deserves a spot on your TBR.

Book Review: Why Don’t You Save Me by Rae Knight (Why Don’t You Book 2)

Genre: Dark Romance / Why Choose (Reverse Harem)

Tropes: Kidnapped FMC, Protective MMCs, Found Family, Revenge, Hidden Parentage, Multiple POV, High Angst, Morally Gray Heroes

Spice Level: ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ – High spice with explicit scenes

Format: eBook

Series: Why Don't You Book 2

Tori has been taken by Nico and transported across state lines. Her men will stop at nothing to bring her home—even if it means calling in favors from their old gang ties. But when they finally track her down, they uncover a secret about her parentage that even Tori didn’t know. None of that matters if they can’t get to her before Nico does something irreversible.

I picked up Book 1 after the author mentioned it in a group I’m in—and I was instantly hooked. Book 1 ends on a brutal cliffhanger that had me downloading Book 2 immediately.

⚠️ Content Warnings:

  • Attempted sexual assault
  • Kidnapping
  • Murder
  • Manipulation
  • Betrayal
  • Threats and violence

This is dark romance. The themes are heavy, and the stakes are high. Personally, I loved the intensity—especially the revenge arc. Completely justified.

This is a Why Choose / Reverse Harem story with multiple POVs that keep you guessing. At certain points, you may question the number of love interests due to shifting perspectives—and possibly hate that idea. The tension is deliberate.

⚠️ Not a standalone.

You absolutely need to read Book 1 to understand what’s happening here. Jumping in at Book 2 would be confusing and remove much of the emotional payoff.

The ending felt satisfying enough that I didn’t feel an urgent need to pick up Book 3 immediately. While I know it continues exploring her parentage storyline, this installment wrapped up the immediate danger in a way that felt complete. That said, the writing and spice were strong enough that I’ll likely circle back to finish the series.

This book is available on Kindle Unlimited or buy it on Amazon for $4.99 by clicking here.

⭐ You’ll love this book if you enjoy:

  • Dark reverse harem romance
  • Kidnapped FMC rescue arcs
  • Protective, morally gray MMCs

Tropes: Resurrection Villain, Revolutionary War Ghost, Demon Gates, Family Legacy, Found Family, Ongoing Rivalry, Small-Town Supernatural

Spice Level: None

Format: eBook

Series: The Pineys (Best read in order)

Bloody John Bacon is back from the dead—since Hemmingway’s previous trap didn’t hold. Determined to rip open the gates of hell and free his brother, Bacon won’t let anyone stand in his way. Unfortunately for him, the Galloways have other plans. First comes revenge for Hem trapping him for decades. Then unleashing apocalypse-level chaos. The question is—who wins this round?

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve read every Pineys installment leading up to this one and have consistently enjoyed the series. The foundation remains familiar—supernatural threats, family dynamics, high-stakes confrontations—but each book introduces a fresh twist. This time, the enemy is a Revolutionary War–era pirate and British loyalist with the ability to summon followers—dead or alive—to fight for the crown.

That historical paranormal element adds a fun layer to the horror.

I especially enjoyed the pacing in this installment, along with the introduction of yet another long-lost family member. It gave the story added emotional depth. The ongoing tension between Hemmingway and his ex-wife also continues to evolve, and I’m genuinely rooting for them this time. Knowing more of the truth might finally allow both of them to move forward.

⚠️ Reading Order Note:

While technically these books could be read out of order, I strongly recommend starting from Book 1. The interpersonal relationships, grudges, and character development matter. Hemmingway, in particular, takes time to grow on you, and without earlier context, he may not be immediately likable.

This is another solid addition to a consistently entertaining paranormal series with historical horror elements and strong family-centered stakes.

Tropes: Age Gap, Forbidden Romance, MC Romance, Opposites Attract, Slow Burn, Angst, Protective Biker, Glasses-Wearing MMC (Yes, It Matters), Second Chance Energy

Series: Destroyers MC Book 7 (Best read in order)

Nikel is a glasses-wearing biker and tech genius—quiet, high-ranking, and not the kind of man who should want someone like Rachel. She’s younger. Innocent. Completely out of place in the Rebel Souls’ barAnd absolutely off-limits. He tried to stay away. For five years, he tried. But now she’s back—and walking away might not be possible this time.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I’ve read almost all of the Destroyers MC series (apparently skipping Book 6 by accident), and I’ve loved every single one. I didn’t even realize this wasn’t Book 6 until late in the story when references were made to a background female character I didn’t recognize. That’s on me—I’ve since corrected the oversight.

⚠️ Reading Order Note:

If you haven’t read the series, start from the beginning. You need the foundation of Walt, Indy, Finn, and the rest of the club dynamic to fully understand the tension between the Destroyers and the Rebel Souls. However, if you’ve read most of the series and accidentally skip one like I did, you likely won’t feel lost until late in the book.

This installment absolutely delivers. The angst? Strong. The emotional weight of what Rachel endures? Heavy. The spice? On point. Nikel has always been more of a quiet, background presence in the upper ranks of the club, so getting his story felt overdue—and worth the wait.

And let’s be honest: there is something wildly attractive about a biker who wears glasses. Add in tech genius energy and a protective streak? Sold. I loved the opposites-attract dynamic that slowly reveals how much they truly have in common. There are light religious elements, but they never dominate the story.

This book solidifies why I keep returning to this author’s MC world. I’ll absolutely continue the series (especially now that I have Book 6 waiting).

Book Review: Broken Demon by Dante St John (After the Breaking Book 1)

Genre: Urban Fantasy Romance / Post-Apocalyptic Paranormal

Tropes: Demon x Human, Second Chance Encounter, Mercenary Crew, Found Family, Supernatural Apocalypse, Protective Alpha, Banter-Heavy Romance

Spice Level: ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ – Very high spice, explicit from early on

Format: eBook

Series: After the Breaking Book 1

On the day of the Breaking—when mythical creatures suddenly appeared on Earth—Andromeda woke up trapped in a closet surrounded by wreckage. Twenty years later, she’s part of a hardened mercenary crew navigating this new supernatural world. When demon Viktor hires her team to locate his missing siblings—who disappeared while tracking human traffickers—things get complicated fast. Because this isn’t the first time Andromeda and Viktor have met.

This was a Facebook-ad impulse download that absolutely paid off. I loved this book. It’s spice-heavy right from the start, packed with explicit scenes, but the plot and world-building still hold their own. I highlighted so many lines it’s ridiculous—especially: “I would do some sketchy shit for some garlic rolls.” Honestly? Relatable. Carbs are life.

The banter between Andromeda and Viktor is top-tier. He’s a demon with presence; she’s a human with lightning powers that are rare in their world and impossible in ours. That twist on her abilities—and the eventual explanation behind them—added depth beyond the standard demon-human pairing.

This is one of those paranormal romances that balances heat, humor, and high-stakes action. The dynamic between them feels layered, especially with their shared history slowly unfolding. Book 1 wraps up Andromeda and Viktor’s arc in a satisfying way, but clearly sets up the next installment with another character from this world. I’m absolutely continuing the series.
