    Immortals After Dark is the series that got me into romance. It was the very first romance series I ever read back in high school, and I have such strong nostalgia tied to it. Apparently, even at 15, I was into intense, borderline dark paranormal smut. No regrets. The only mistake? Reading them out of order. I fully plan to go back and reread the entire series properly this time.

    I’m happy to report I loved this book just as much on reread. If you’re familiar with Christine Feehan, the vibe is comparable—alpha immortals, intense chemistry, high-stakes paranormal conflict—but this series will always be my personal favorite.

    Myst battles Nikolai hard, but goes soft for him just as easily. The consent is dubious, but it is consent, none-the-less. I loved how petty Myst was by making it where he was on the brink of orgasm without being able to get off without her for 5 years. That is pure malice. Just for him saying he was going to torture her before she blooded him. Absolute perfection of pettiness and I loved her from that moment on.

    This is peak enemies-to-lovers paranormal romance with powerful immortal leads who give as good as they get.
