Series: Mountain Men Matchmaker Book 1
Since his dad died, life on the mountain hasn’t been the same for Wyatt. Something is missing—and he’s known for a while that what he really wants is to be a father. The problem? There’s no woman in his life he wants to build that future with after his last relationship went up in flames.
So he decides on surrogacy.
Money isn’t the issue. His pickiness as a single father absolutely is. After twelve failed matches, he reluctantly allows his niece to help find a surrogate. That’s how he meets Trista—stunning, curvy, and determined to earn enough money to fund her dream of opening an animal rescue. With her unstable housing situation, the surrogacy agreement includes optional housing…in his barn apartment.
Contracts are signed. Boundaries are set. But, some rules are meant to be broken.
The tension? Immediate and undeniable.
I listened to this as part of Audible’s “2 books for 1 credit” deal, and it ended up being such a fun, light-hearted surprise. Wyatt is peak grumpy mountain man—speaks in grunts, acts tough—but is absolute goo for the people (and animals) he loves. His goat Milly? Iconic. The fact that he let his 18-year-old niece help him find a surrogate? Slightly unhinged. Endearing, but unhinged.
Trista is sunshine with backbone. She doesn’t want children of her own, shaped by a rough childhood, but agrees to carry Wyatt’s baby for practical reasons. Of course, when timing and logistics don’t go as planned…they improvise. The insemination attempts are chaotic in the most hilarious way, and the whole situation perfectly balances awkward humor with serious chemistry. Just...ranch cups now take on a whole new meaning to me.
This book shines in its dual POV, letting us see both Wyatt’s internal unraveling and Trista slowly getting under his skin. Watching him fall first—hard—was everything. And the way she softens without losing herself? Loved it.
Each chapter opens with a count of how many animals are on the mountain, which was such a cute recurring detail. You always know when Trista is about to push another boundary—and that Wyatt will absolutely cave.
⚠️ Content Warnings:
- Childhood trauma
- Explicit sexual content
- Pregnancy themes
This is high-spice but still emotionally warm. It’s funny, tender, and full of mountain-man energy with a soft center.
I’ll absolutely continue this series. It feels like we’re being set up for one of the brothers and the sister-in-law’s best friend next—and I need that story immediately.
