Book Review: Lilac by B. B. Reid

Genre: Contemporary Romance • Reverse Harem/Why Choose • Rockstar Romance

Tropes: Reverse Harem/Why Choose, Rockstar Romance, Forced Proximity, Found Family, Band Romance, New Girl in the Band, Enemies to Lovers, Betrayal, MM Romance, Sword Crossing, Open Door Romance, MMFM Romance

Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Format: eBook

Series: Standalone

Braxton Fawn has synesthesia and has used this to channel her love into music into her own style. This resulted in becoming the new forth for the world's most popular pop band following the untimely death of their co-star. Everyone believes that she is the luckiest girl alive to be with these music gods...except Braxton. They are intolerable, intoxicating, and off limits. Can she survive the tour or will she lose herself in the process to one...or all of them?

I found this book on Tiktok and added it to my seemingly never-ending TBR. It was a long book at 556 pages, but it is more than worth it. We get to meet each one of the characters, get to know and become attached to them, be betrayed by them more than once, and end on the perfect note. I loved every bit of this book from page 1 where Brax squirmed while looking at a video of the guys on the tv in the waiting room until the epilogue.

My favorite of the guys was Jericho, although his betrayal is the one that hurt Brax the deepest. Initially I wanted it to be Loren since he was the one who was gone on her first, but it didn't end up being that way. Something about the quiet ones. Houston was great and the broody bastard, but he just wasn't my favorite. In case you haven't realized, this was a very open door reverse harem/why choose. There is sword crossing. Which makes this one of my top reads for the year so far.

Now for the trigger warnings because this book is fun. Bullying, betrayal, cheating (technically), power play, primal play, kidnapping, abuse, referenced grooming, and a lot of very wonderful open door scenes that include MM action. If they aren't your cup of tea then this book won't be for you.

Now, for those of us that love trigger warnings you'll love this book. It combines all my favorite things: RH in a contemporary romance setting, enemies to lovers, and superstar romance. It is done in a great way that wraps up everything in the story and leaves you missing the characters, while happy for their resolution.

This book is available on Kindle Unlimited or buy it on Amazon for $5.99 by clicking here

Book Review: A Pack for Autumn by Emilia Emerson (Cozyverse Book 1)

Genre: Cozy Omegaverse Romance • Paranormal Romance

Tropes: Reverse Harem / Why Choose, Small Town Romance, Lighthouse Setting, Protective Alphas, Fresh Start, Plus-Size FMC, Found Family
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Format: Audiobook
Series: Cozyverse Book 1

After losing her parents five years ago, Autumn has slowly drifted away from everything connected to her old life. Desperate for a fresh start, she accepts a job as a lighthouse keeper in a small coastal town her family once visited together. For the first time in years, things finally seem peaceful.

Then she meets Easton. Persistent, protective, and very much an Alpha who doesn’t understand the meaning of “no,” Easton immediately disrupts Autumn’s carefully controlled life. With his pack helping restore the lighthouse, avoiding them quickly becomes impossible—and while her Omega instincts may want to lean into the connection, her painful past makes trusting anyone difficult.

I listened to this on audiobook, and the duet narration absolutely made the experience for me. Dual POV romances are already fun, but duet narration is quickly becoming my favorite format because it makes the stories feel so much more immersive. The narrators did an amazing job, and honestly, I didn’t want the book to end.

This is a cozy, open-door Omegaverse romance where polyamorous relationships are normalized, and I loved how naturally the world handled it. One of the most unique aspects for me was that the Alpha/Beta/Omega dynamics exist without shifters. Most Omegaverse books I’ve read tie the hierarchy to wolf shifters or other paranormal creatures, so this felt refreshingly different.

Autumn’s relationship with the pack develops in such a comforting way. I especially loved how patient and reassuring her men were when it came to her insecurities and fear of being “too much,” particularly as a plus-sized FMC with low self-esteem. Their support felt genuine without completely erasing her struggles overnight.

But let’s be honest—the true star of this book was Felix the cat. That cat is absolutely not normal, and I refuse to believe otherwise. The epilogue from Felix’s perspective completely hooked me, and now I desperately need answers about whatever secrets that suspiciously intelligent feline is hiding.

This was cozy, spicy, comforting, and exactly the kind of Omegaverse read I needed. I’ll absolutely be continuing the series.

You’ll Love This Book If You Enjoy:

  • Cozy Omegaverse romance
  • Lighthouse and small-town settings
  • Protective Alpha love interests
  • Why choose / reverse harem romance
  • Plus-size FMC representation
  • Found family vibes
  • Duet narration audiobooks
  • Cats that are definitely hiding secrets
  • Open-door romance with emotional comfort

A warm, spicy Omegaverse romance with lighthouse charm, supportive relationships, and one unforgettable cat.

Book Review: The Skinny by Monica Ross (The Fatkini Chronicles Book 2)

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Tropes: Why Choose , Author x Narrator, Found Family, Toxic Ex/Sibling Drama, Personal Growth

Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Format: eBook

Series: The Fatkini Chronicles Book 2 (Must Be Read in Order)

Zelda, Aithan, and Drew are finally settling into something that feels real. They know what they want—and none of them are willing to give it up.

Unfortunately, life isn’t done testing them.

Zelda’s toxic sister and her equally frustrating ex keep forcing their way back into her life, threatening everything she’s building. But this time? Zelda isn’t backing down. She’s done being pushed around and is more than ready to put both of them in their place.

I started this immediately after finishing Book 1 because I needed answers—especially with everything going on with Aithan and that ending. This book delivers on all of it, with even more relationship development, higher emotional stakes, and definitely more spice. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

The dynamic between Zelda, Aithan, and Drew continues to evolve in a way that feels natural, even as things get more complicated. There’s still the potential for the relationship to expand further, but with everything currently happening, I’m not convinced it’s the best move—at least not right now.

One of my favorite parts of this book is Zelda’s growth. She isn’t just changing her situation—she’s changing how she sees herself. Watching her step into confidence, embrace her body, and stop hiding behind clothes that don’t fit was incredibly satisfying. Drew pushing her toward that? Exactly what she needed.

The sister and ex drama was exactly what I expected—in the worst way. Zero boundaries, constant interference, and just overall chaos. I couldn’t stand either of them, but it made watching Zelda finally stand up for herself that much better.

While this isn’t the end of their story, I was really happy with where this book stopped. I’m not desperate for the next installment, but I’ll absolutely pick it up when I’m ready for more.

You’ll Love This Book If You Enjoy:

  • Why choose romance (or the possibility of it)
  • High-spice contemporary romance
  • Strong character growth arcs
  • Confident, evolving FMCs
  • Messy family and ex drama
  • Workplace/author industry romance
  • Relationship dynamics that grow over time

A spicy, character-driven sequel that builds on everything from Book 1 and delivers growth, drama, and heat.

Fatkini (Fatkini Chronicles Book 1)

Book Review: Fatkini by Monica Ross (The Fatkini Chronicles Book 1)

 Author: Monica Ross

Genre: Contemporary Romance / Plus Size Romance

Tropes: Body Positivity, Plus Size FMC, Toxic Ex, Healing Journey, MFM Romance, Why Choose Vibes, Self-Discovery, Workplace Romance

Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶🌶

Format: eBook

Series: The Fatkini Chronicles

Zelda is done being hidden away and torn down by her boyfriend of two years. The final straw? Him mocking the bikini she bought—calling it a “fatkini” and comparing her to a beached whale. According to him, someone her size shouldn’t wear things like that.

    Yeah… absolutely not.

When Zelda finally walks away, it opens the door for something much better—especially when Aithan and Drew step in and make it their mission to show her just how gorgeous she really is.

This plus size romance had been sitting on my TBR for a while, and it delivered exactly what I was hoping for. A toxic relationship gets left in the dust, and the FMC steps into something healthier, more supportive, and honestly? Way hotter.

Her ex is the kind of character you love to hate—the slow-burn toxic type who chips away at confidence over time until you start believing the lies. That kind of emotional damage is hard to walk away from, and even harder not to go back to. Watching Zelda break free from that mindset and choose herself was incredibly satisfying.

The journey of self-discovery is a huge highlight here. From how she handles the breakup to exploring her confidence, her body, and what she actually wants out of life and relationships—it all feels empowering without losing the emotional weight behind it.

I also loved the dynamics between Zelda, her author friend, and her ex’s boss. The relationships build in a way that feels natural while still bringing plenty of tension and chemistry. This is definitely an open-door, spicy contemporary romance, with MFM dynamics that hint at possibly expanding further as the series continues.

One detail I didn’t expect to love as much as I did was the lifestyle and food aspect. Zelda’s commitment to her health and diet added another layer to her character, and it even inspired me to look into some of the recipes mentioned for my own health issues that I am also supposed to be on an AIP diet for.

Overall, this is an empowering, spicy plus size romance that balances emotional growth with steamy relationships and leaves you wanting more. And that ending? Total cliffhanger. I immediately needed book two.

You’ll like this book if you enjoy:

  • Plus size, body positivity romance
  • Escaping toxic relationships and healing journeys
  • Spicy MFM / why choose romance dynamics
  • Strong character growth and self-love arcs
  • Supportive, confidence-boosting love interests
  • Books that end on cliffhangers and make you binge the series

Book Review: Nameless by Jessica Sorensen (The Broken City Book 1)

Genre: Post-Apocalyptic Romance / Paranormal Romance / Dystopian Romance

Tropes: Reverse Harem, Why Choose, Vampire Overlords, Captive Heroine, Found Family, Hidden Identity, Slow Burn Romance, Survival

Spice Level: None (so far)

Format: eBook

Series: The Broken City Book 1

Humans don’t have names anymore. We are the Nameless—little more than cattle for the Wardens and the monsters that now rule what’s left of the world.

But I had a name once. Allura.

I can also do something most Nameless can’t: I can speak. And then there are the dreams—clear blue skies, green grass, and rain. Things that don’t seem to exist anymore. After years of imprisonment, I’m finally freed by Blaise and his group, only to discover that the outside world is nothing like those dreams. Which raises the question… were they ever just dreams at all?

And if I start uncovering the truth about myself, I might become even more hunted than I already am.

I originally picked this book up during a free deal and completely forgot about it until I was in the mood for a post-apocalyptic romance. Seeing that it was also a reverse harem (why choose) romance? Immediate bonus points.

From the very first chapter, I was hooked.

This is the kind of book that makes you ignore everything else you’re reading. I finished my original copy in one night—only to realize it was an older, much shorter version (about 64 pages). After some digging, I found out the author had combined multiple parts into an updated edition. I immediately downloaded it on Kindle Unlimited and flew through the next 100+ pages just as fast… only to hit another cliffhanger.

And let me tell you—this story thrives on cliffhangers.

The world-building is one of the most compelling parts of this dystopian paranormal romance. Earth has fallen, and vampire-like beings now control everything. The Wardens keep humans—the Nameless—imprisoned, while other creatures pay for the chance to feed on them. Most don’t survive long, but Allura is different. She doesn’t know how long she’s been captive or even how old she is, but she does know her essence is more valuable, she can speak, and she still has a name—even if she’s not allowed to use it.

Once she’s freed, the story shifts into survival mode as she navigates a brutal, unfamiliar world with a group who has never known anything else. The found family dynamic starts to build here, and I was immediately attached to all of the guys.

    But Blaise? Absolutely my favorite.

He’s a total sweetheart—at least when it comes to her—and I’m really hoping that continues as the relationships develop. As of where this book ends, this is very much a slow-burn reverse harem romance. There’s little to no spice yet, focusing instead on world-building, character development, and setting up future relationships.

Overall, this is an incredibly addictive post-apocalyptic vampire-esque romance that will pull you in fast and leave you desperate for answers. The mystery, the characters, and the cliffhangers make it impossible to stop once you start.

And the best part? Books 2 and 3 are now available again—so unlike me originally, you don’t have to wait to continue.

You’ll like this book if you enjoy:

  • Post-apocalyptic or dystopian romance
  • Vampire or monster-controlled worlds
  • Reverse harem / why choose romance
  • Slow-burn relationships with strong buildup
  • Found family and survival dynamics
  • Books that hook you fast and end on cliffhangers

Book Review: Of Blackened Blood by Isla Davon (Of Blackened Bonds Book 3)

 Author:

Genre: Dark Romance / Paranormal Romance / Why Choose (Reverse Harem)

Tropes: Why Choose, Reverse Harem, Found Family, Dark Past, Protective MMCs, Slow-Burn Bonds, Touch Her and Die, Hidden Powers

Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶🌶

Format: eBook

Series: Yes (Ongoing Series)

Micai is finally starting to understand her bond with one of her men, and she couldn’t be happier. But the looming threat of The Facility—and the consequences of her sister’s actions—still hang over everything. While the group is becoming stronger and more united, it’s clear they may need outside help… even if the guys aren’t thrilled about it.

I downloaded this book on release day and finished it within a few days—it’s that addictive. While many readers may have already suspected who the fifth member of the group would be, chapter one confirms it right away. I had my guess, and I loved being right.

This installment leans deeper into character development while still delivering the action and spice the series is known for. Annex shows a much more emotional side this time around—don’t worry, he’s still completely unhinged, just not when it comes to Micai. Ezra and Mal remain steady, though we do see some natural relationship progression there, along with plenty of added spice.

Creed finally reaches a turning point, and that was incredibly satisfying to read. We’re also reintroduced to Gadriel, and the blacksmith becomes a much more significant part of the story. I’ll admit, I didn’t like his character going into this book, but his backstory completely changed my perspective.

We also get more insight into Knox. While he’s far from redeemed, my feelings toward him have definitely shifted from pure anger to something more complicated. And Seria? She’s starting to show her true colors, and I’m very curious to see where that leads.

This book balances emotional development, dark romance tension, and high-stakes plot progression really well. And that ending—wow. The cliffhanger hits hard and definitely leaves you wanting more.

I’m already counting down to book four (even though I don't have a release day). I need more answers, more action, and of course, more spice.

You’ll like this book if you enjoy:

  • Dark why choose / reverse harem romance
  • Morally gray, protective love interests
  • Found family with strong emotional bonds
  • High-stakes paranormal or supernatural plots
  • Spicy romance with ongoing character development
  • Books that end on intense cliffhangers

Book Review: Bonds of Hercules by Jasmine Mas (Villains of Lore Book 2)

Genre: Dark Fantasy Romance • Mythological Romance • Reverse Harem

Tropes: Forced Marriage • Enemies to Lovers • Bully Romance • Greek GodsTrial by Combat • “Touch Her and Die” • Immortality Games

Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (Very explicit, frequent by the end)

Series: Book 2

Alexis survived the training and is eligible to survive to 19 when she will become immortal. But, she is tainted now and in order to save face she must marry. Kharon and Augustus have stepped up and bound to her. She was their objective anyways and it doesn’t matter that they bullied and tricked her into marrying them. She is theirs and she will come to terms with it. But with Zues insisting that they must all participate in the games they just need to get her strong enough to survive what is thrown at her. Otherwise, they will go to war with the Olympians to keep her relatively safe.

This book wasn’t on Kindle Unlimited. However, I needed it. Immediately. Do I know that it was going to end up on Kindle Unlimited? Yes. Does that matter? Nope. It wouldn’t be on there fast enough since it was a new release and I needed to know what happened next.

Now, it ended on another cliff-hanger. Sort of. Alexis and her men are resolved, but she seems to be remaining a background character and we will be getting a new trio. I really need that one too, but who knows when the book will be out. The next Jasmine Mas book will be out September 15th and it is added to my calendar to remind myself. But, it is a new series. Not going to stop me from reading it. As I have mentioned before, I seem to have developed an addiction to any book this author writes.

This book is just as amazing as book 1, but with more spice. It starts out small, but by the end of the book it is almost non-stop. No complaints. All the same trigger warnings from before still apply so check them before you start. This is book 2 that you absolutely cannot read without reading book 1 first. You will have no idea what is going on. So go read the others first.

Now then, I need to know what is going on with Charlie. I know he isn’t a normal human. I just know it. I don’t care if he gets his own book or if it is told in the background. I don’t care. I just need the information immediately.

The betrayal and bloodshed in this book is amazing. I am trying to hard to be vague when I just want to talk about it. I did see who the “big bad” was, but it wasn’t exactly subtle. I wasn’t really surprised by any of the reveals. Didn’t mean I didn’t adore being proven right and everything that happened along the way.

This book is available on Amazon for $12.99 by clicking here.

You’ll Love This If You Love:

  • Dark mythological romance with Greek gods
  • Reverse harem with morally gray men

  • Marriage of convenience (with teeth)
  • Political power plays among immortals
  • Betrayal, bloodshed, and revenge
  • High-spice fantasy romance
  • Cliffhangers that make you immediately need book 3

This series is pure obsession fuel.

Alexis Hert was abandoned as a baby and given to Foster Mother and Father. They were cruel, especially when they were hungry…which was often. Her only friend was an invisible snake she found one day while escaping to the library. Nix was her only companion…until the foster workers dropped off another boy. Charlie. Charlie was younger than Alexis and couldn’t speak, but she would die for him. When a test reveals me to be something else I am taken away from Charlie and I will do whatever I have to to get back to my brother and keep him safe. I just have to live that long.

I got this book with an audible credit and loved it so much. I ended up tandem reading this book bouncing back and forth between the audiobook and the eBook because I just didn’t want to stop reading it. I usually listen to audiobooks while I am cooking dinner, working out, or driving. But otherwise it is a physical book or eBook and I will jump between books. I loved this book so much immediately that I only wanted to read it.

It is 500 pages of pure trauma, depression, power, and sass. I loved the presents. I really want her to go dig up those boxes because excuse me? I mean maybe not the top part, but what was under the top part. Trying to be vague here. Also, I was in love with Kharon from the very first mention of him. I do not care that he was immediately the villain and was traumatizing her. He was perfection and I was in love. Still am. He is still my favorite and nothing you can do or say will change my mind.

This is the start of a reverse harem series. And yes it ends on a cliff-hanger. If you have read the other Jasmine Mas books you know it is a theme with her. Book 1 is establishing background and getting to know our characters with just a little bit of spice thrown into the mix. Then there is book 2 that amps it up. I am trying to stick with what happens in book 1 though, because by this point I have already read book 2.

I am addicted to Jasmine Mas books and the men she writes. I will happily live in every world she creates ad infinitum. Speaking of. This book is big on Greek gods and monsters, Latin, and math. Not thrilled on the math, but it is kind of a common coping mechanism for her FMCs. Case in point being Aran. Aran and Alexis would get along famously. We should do a cross-over. Although would they be sister-in-laws in that case? Food for thought. Still needs to happen.

This book is what dreams are made of. Or nightmares. Depends on how traumatized you are, because Alexis goes through it. Basically through everything with non-stop torture. That being said, check your triggers. There is child abuse, adult abuse, bullying, physical violence, murder (like a lot), open door sex scenes, and stalking.

This book is available on Kindle Unlimited or buy it on Amazon for $3.99 by clicking here.

You’ll Love This If You Love:

  • Dark fantasy with heavy trauma arcs
  • Reverse harem with morally gray (or fully villainous) men
  • Greek gods, monsters, and mythological undertones
  • Touch-her-and-die energy
  • Powerful, hyper-intelligent FMCs who survive through sheer will
  • Villain love interests you absolutely should not root for… but do anyway
  • Found family built through pain
  • Cliffhanger endings that emotionally wreck you

Aran hates the devil kings. Especially Mallon….Mitch. She is still in disguise, but who knows how long that will last. Then there is Lothaire who knows only torture for his little crew of ungodly slayers. They must now battle in the Legionaire Games to determine who will lead the war. The one consolation? Sadie is there.

Book 5 picks up immediately where Book 4 left off. If you haven’t read 1-4 run, don’t walk, to Book 1 now. You won’t regret it. Where Sadie was mostly sunny Aran is all dark clouds and anger. She is and will always be my spirit animal….without the drugs.

We get plenty more John time in this book and it is kicked up a notch at the end of this book along with his big reveal. LOVED that! After John and his secret my favorite is Orien.

I loved the games and how brutal they were, utterly eclipsing the gladiator games in Book 2. I loved when the Devils realize what is actually making Aran sick and not that accursed slave tattoo Lothaire forced on her.

There is so much torture, pain, and chaos in this book and I loved every second of it. Sadie is still up to her normal tricks and it is driving the kings nuts at the mid point of this book. I literally thought they were going to kill her in their jealousy.

Hate what Mallon chose to do to Aran in this, but watching him choke and grovel when the big reveal happens made it worth it. Sort of.

This book is available on Kindle Unlimited or buy it on Amazon for $4.99 by clicking here

  • Morally grey kings who must grovel
  • Jealous antiheroes losing control
  • Tortured heroes and hidden truths

Dorothy was filming the meerkats fierce battle when a lion ambushed her and ripped out her throat. As she lay dying a beam of light exploded around her and she watched in shock as she and the lion flew into the air. On a spaceship tiny owl creatures covered her in some kind of goop that ended up working as a translator. Once she and her new lion friend escaped she wanted nothing more than to get back to her wildlife. But, she and Toto aren’t in Kansas anymore…well the Savannah...

I got this audiobook with my monthly audible credit and when I tell you I loved every single second of this book I mean it. The narration is amazing. The characters humor is amazing. I officially need to read everything by this author and need the rest of this series to happen immediately. Full disclosure this is SMUT. Like a lot of smut. Explicit scenes, outdoors, and tail play. Not the lion. Aliens. Which is much better. I will say that the consent was...dubious. Intern and his damnable darts....you'll see what I mean.

I loved all of the Wizard of Oz references in the book and kind of hate Intern. He is a deceitful little owlish that really needs plucked. I wonder how much better things would have gone for them had they just killed him from the beginning. This book ends on a cliff-hanger, but Dorothy, Lok, and Sol’s story seems to be finished. I hope they stay on as background characters.

Also, did I mention there are dinosaurs? Like constantly. Loved that more than I can say. And a pink T Rex? Also wonderful. Although, I am not sure how much of it the owlish just pulled out of their feathers like the “human enrichment items”. You will be laughing all the time with this read and enjoying all the spice. Absolutely amazing read and can’t wait for more from this author.

This book is available on Amazon for $6.99 by clicking here.

You’ll Love This Book If You Enjoy:

  • Alien reverse harem romance
  • Campy, chaotic humor
  • Wizard of Oz–inspired retellings
  • Explicit, creative spice
  • Talking animal companions
  • Dinosaurs in space
  • Audiobooks with stellar narration

This was wildly entertaining from start to finish. I need the rest of this series immediately—and I’ll absolutely be reading everything this author writes.

Book Review: The Heiress Auction by Evie Croft (The Heiress Merger Book 1)

Genre: Contemporary Romance / Why Choose (Reverse Harem)
Tropes: Marriage of Convenience, Inheritance Clause, Charity Auction Date, Best Friends to Lovers (Potential), Love Triangle (or More), Cliffhanger Ending
Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶 (High – explicit, open-door scenes throughout)
Format: eBook
Series: The Heiress Merger

Katherine is just waiting on her inheritance to be able to be her own person without dealing with her mother’s whims. However, a new stipend has come to light. Katherine must marry in order to get her inheritance from her grandfather. With no prospects on the horizon she agrees to go to her mother’s charity event and be auctioned off for a date to the highest bidder. Enter Gabe, her sleazy ex, and Gabe’s best friend. The bidding is off, but who will win her date?

I get caught by the Facebook Ads a lot and this is yet another instance of that happening. This is a contemporary romance why choose/reverse harem. We start the book with zero prospects, but hoping for her best friend. Then she has a date with 2 best friends. When it comes to choosing that isn’t a concern. I am still holding out hope that this will turn into a MMFM with the best friend and sword crossing.

I loved this book and all of the spice. There is plenty of it with explicit scenes. Including some fun in a maze at her families house. Absolutely no judgement there. That being said, the book ends on a cliffhanger where the best friend shows up and professes his undying love but she tells him it is too little too late. Really hoping it’s not because he was a jerk but I kinda already love him.

Book Review: Abducting Sarah by Brenna Sinclair (Planet Orhon Alien Romance Book 1)

Genre: Sci-Fi Romance / Paranormal Romance
Tropes: MMF Romance, Alien AbductionMarriage of Convenience, Fated Mates Vibes, Ghost Communication, Royal Intrigue
Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶🌶 (explicit MF scenes; open-door throughout)
Format: eBook
Series: Planet Orhon Alien Romance Book 1

Sarah has always seen things that aren’t there. Her fiancé has made sure to help her with this issue by making sure she takes her medications. Once she is stable they will finally have their wedding. When Sarah tells him that she feels she is being followed he causes her of stopping her medications, but her disappearance shortly thereafter means she was right…and maybe she wasn’t as crazy as thought. Jac and Deacon introduce her to this alien world, but Sarah isn’t convinced it is real. That being said, this hallucination has the best orgasms.

This is a MMF sci-fi romance complete with aliens, powers, ghosts, and so very much smut. That smut absolutely includes sword crossing, although that scene is not explicit unlike the MF scenes. We have a marriage of convenience, but the smut starts almost immediately. We go from Sarah being followed to her being taken care of almost immediately and since she is convinced it is all a hallucination she is okay with that.

This is an odd one only in that Deacon was engaged to Silence who was having an affair with his father. She got pregnant. Her father found out and killed his dad. Deacon didn't blame his dad and instead vowed to free Silence from the royal prison, take her to Halla where his dad's ghost lives, and let them live out their lives with his new consort there since she can also see and communicate with ghosts. What could possibly go wrong.

Although the premise was a bit odd I really enjoyed the book and all the scenes within. Be them sexual or action based. This book does end on a cliff-hanger that was a bit upsetting, especially for Sarah. I really hope they can get it all fixed and Silence can go do her own thing because absolutely not. I don't care how much honor and duty there is that is going to be a hard no. It really needs fixed immediately. Trying to be vague while venting frustrations here.

Book Review: Queen of Wildcards by Heleva Risqué (Queens of Khula City Book 1)

Genre: Dark Romance / Reverse Harem (Why Choose)
Tropes: Kidnapped Heroine, Why Choose, Criminal Underworld, Morally Black MMCs, Stockholm Syndrome Vibes, Touch-Her-and-Die, Forced Proximity
Spice Level: Very High (explicit and frequent)
Format: eBook
Series: Queens of Khula Book 1

Malory is no stranger to the underworld, but she has learned to cope by being an online therapist to help others with their problems. When she gets a last minute SoS call as she is about to clock out for the night she makes the split second decision that changes her life forever. Joker comes on the screen drunk and needing to get some sordid details off his chest. The result is him getting something else off instead. Ace, intent on keeping his crew from being ratted out to the cops by this online therapist tracks her down. The crew kidnap her and bring her back to their compound with absolutely no clue what to do with her.

I stumbled upon this book and oh my goodness. There is a gun scene in this book that is to die for. It is a why choose/reverse harem and honestly? She should never have to choose. Each of these men are deliciously wicked and I loved every single page of this book. When I say I devoured this very spicy and very explicit book would be an understatement.

This book does not end on a cliff-hanger and I will absolutely be needing more from this author in the future. There is a very Stockholm syndrome vibe that I am here for. She falls for her kidnappers going from caged and afraid to their queen. It was wonderful and I could not have been happier with discovering this book.

My favorite, without question, was Blackjack. A traumatized man who can’t handle being touched, but is drawn to the caged beauty? Sign me all the way up. And what he is packing-even if it isn’t Ace’s gun? Also a yes. Although, we can’t forget about Spade who will fight anyone who looks at his woman and is the first to get a taste. I will absolutely be needing more by this author post haste.

Book Review: Psycho Gods Book 6 by Jasmine Mas (Cruel Shifterverse Book 6)

Genre: Epic Fantasy Romance / Paranormal Romance

Tropes: Why Choose Romance, War Against the Gods, Found Family, Fated Mates, Groveling & Redemption, Powerful Heroine, Multi-Realm Politics

Spice Level: Medium–High (series builds emotional depth first; strong romantic payoff)

Format: Novel (must be read in order)

Series: Cruel Shifterverse Book 6

It has been decided. Aran, Mallum, Scorpio, Orion, John, and his brother are all the generals in this war. Sadie and her mates are right there with her to lead their infinitesimally small army against the ungodly. 100. That is all the manpower they get against this entire force. No reinforcements are coming. They have 100 people, including themselves, to remove all the ungodly from this world. Losing is not an option. All of the realms hang in the balance.

I love this series more than I have any right to. I have so many passages highlighted and am currently forcing my work bestie to read them right now (she is on book 2 in less than a week). Everything in these books is pure chaos and wonder. This book is no exception. These books CANNOT be read out of order. They must be read in order or you will have no idea what is going on. Especially this book.

Just trust me. These characters needed almost 2k pages to get to this point and I am sad those pages are done now. I genuinely hope that the author continues on with this series, maybe with Jinx. Would definitely be open to reading that. Although by this point there isn’t a single book this author has written that I haven’t read and loved. Like to the point she has another book in a new series coming out September 15th and it is already pre-ordered and added to my calendar.

Aran’s story is my favorite and I love all of the groveling that happens in this book. It is absolutely warranted. Oh. And her coming into her powers? Wonderful. We get a lot more of the brothers in this book and I officially came out of this book with a favorite realm. Which is rude because we got the demon realm for all of 5 seconds.

My absolute favorite part of this book is when Aran decides Mallum is a horse girl. I cackled when I read that. Literal favorite part.

💫 You’ll love this book if you enjoy:

  • Epic fantasy romance with world-ending stakes
  • Why choose / multiple love interests
  • Found family forged through battle
  • Powerful heroines claiming their magic
  • Groveling and redemption arcs that feel earned
  • Multi-realm political intrigue
  • Long, interconnected series with massive emotional payoff
  • Chaos, heartbreak, humor, and war-level tension

If you want a fantasy romance series that builds slowly, devastates you emotionally, and delivers a hard-earned, explosive finale—this one absolutely earns its place on your shelf.

Book Review: Why Don’t You Save Me by Rae Knight (Why Don’t You Book 2)

Genre: Dark Romance / Why Choose (Reverse Harem)

Tropes: Kidnapped FMC, Protective MMCs, Found Family, Revenge, Hidden Parentage, Multiple POV, High Angst, Morally Gray Heroes

Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶🌶 – High spice with explicit scenes

Format: eBook

Series: Why Don't You Book 2

Tori has been taken by Nico and transported across state lines. Her men will stop at nothing to bring her home—even if it means calling in favors from their old gang ties. But when they finally track her down, they uncover a secret about her parentage that even Tori didn’t know. None of that matters if they can’t get to her before Nico does something irreversible.

I picked up Book 1 after the author mentioned it in a group I’m in—and I was instantly hooked. Book 1 ends on a brutal cliffhanger that had me downloading Book 2 immediately.

⚠️ Content Warnings:

  • Attempted sexual assault
  • Kidnapping
  • Murder
  • Manipulation
  • Betrayal
  • Threats and violence

This is dark romance. The themes are heavy, and the stakes are high. Personally, I loved the intensity—especially the revenge arc. Completely justified.

This is a Why Choose / Reverse Harem story with multiple POVs that keep you guessing. At certain points, you may question the number of love interests due to shifting perspectives—and possibly hate that idea. The tension is deliberate.

⚠️ Not a standalone.

You absolutely need to read Book 1 to understand what’s happening here. Jumping in at Book 2 would be confusing and remove much of the emotional payoff.

The ending felt satisfying enough that I didn’t feel an urgent need to pick up Book 3 immediately. While I know it continues exploring her parentage storyline, this installment wrapped up the immediate danger in a way that felt complete. That said, the writing and spice were strong enough that I’ll likely circle back to finish the series.

⭐ You’ll love this book if you enjoy:

  • Dark reverse harem romance
  • Kidnapped FMC rescue arcs
  • Protective, morally gray MMCs

  • Multiple POV storytelling
