Book Review: Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton

Image result for Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton    Hammond has completed a truly remarkable feat. He and his team of scientists have brought dinosaurs back from the past. They will be the world's greatest theme park. Could you just imagine walking around the legs of a giant herbivore or view a T-Rex devour a goat before your very eyes. What could possibly go wrong? Well when a greedy computer programmer shuts down the electricity and gates they are about to find out just how wild the Jurassic era was.
Dr. Grant and Dr Stattler as archaeologists who are finally seeing something that they can hardly even fathom. They can see the merit in the idea but can also agree with Malcolm, the mathematician, who states the park is bound for certain destruction. When the grid goes down they must find a way to survive the very dinosaurs they have studied for most of their lives.
First off this book is so much better than all of the movies combined. Although I can't help picturing the actors portraying the scenes within the book rather than the actual characters described. None the less the book is amazing and actually goes into detail about how the dinosaurs were made and how we achieved the needed level of science. Truly an amazing book and I cannot wait to start book two; which is currently on my desk.

Book Review: Heart of Stone by Christine Warren

Image result for heart of stone by christine warren    Ella has been cursed with some power that she has no idea how to control and it has ruined her life. Now her favorite statue has come to life; claiming that he is a guardian to protect humanity from the darkness and it seems that her power has awakened him. Just great. Still she is as drawn to him now as she was when he was a statue. If only he wasn't made of stone.
Keis has awakened to a mysterious magic wielding woman who has no control of her powers and no training by the guild. Now he finds that the guild is no where to be found as well. With so many things going on the Darkness is sure to be rising. However someone this untrained little mage has found her way into his mind and showed him something he never thought possible.
Perfect balance of romance and action that does not tire you out or bore you. Instead at the end of the book you find yourself looking for book two if only to follow the intricate backstory. This book will drag you through all the emotions. From disgruntled at the pig headed gargoyle to sad at the loss of a friend to amused at the antics of Phil and elated at some parts as well. The author can truly transport you into the story where you get lost in that world, a land far beyond our own.

Book Review: Crush by Chrissy Peebles

Image result for crush by chrissy peebles     Taylor and her parents have just moved into a new town where mysterious things are happening. A boy manages to scare off a mountain lion, people are dying, there is a curse, and who knows what else. And if her new friend is right some of the people she meets on a daily basis could very well be...vampires?
Teen lit about a girl and a boy who are completely infatuated with each other and one has a deadly secret. Sadly it is one of those horrid books where they break what should be one book into multiple little books so I may not ever know what happens with Taylor, the curse, or the vampires. If you are okay with locating multiple “books” just to finish one story then this might be one for you.

Book Review: Bitten by Noelle Marie

Image result for Bitten by Noelle Marie    Bastian is on a mission to find his parent's murderers but while tracking them down he finds the infuriating little brunette, Katherine. When he bites her and changes her into a werewolf he has no choice but to take her home with him and his pack. Now only to make sure that she can survive the change.
The story itself is great; if that is that you can get past the authors god awful writing style. I don't know how many times she says "the little brunette" or "Mr. blue eyes" to talk about Katherine or Bastian long after we have learned their names. I could understand it the first few times until we knew their names but 10 chapters in? That is a little much. Hopefully the other books in the series show that the author possesses the ability to grow in her writing. Otherwise I don't know how much hope I have of completing the series.
This is a teen lit book with a bit of "safe" romance thrown in for a bit of fun. Bastian is amazing but I keep wanting to think of him as Seb or Sebastian. Katherine is a bit of a bratty teenager but hopefully she will grow out of it. So far my favorites are Caleb and Sophie and I really hope they end up together. Caleb is so shy and adorable while Sophie is so direct. I have high hopes for this series, if the author can step up her game.

Book Review: Pay for Play Victoria Ashley and Hilary Storm

Image result for Pay for Play audiobook   Linx has decided to take on a local club, Club Royal, in addition to his online chat business as a silent partner. When the manager decides to not show and two of the bartenders call in he is in a tight spot until a curvy redhead, Rebel, shows up and could quite possibly save him. The only thing is he can barely keep his hands off of all of those curves. When he sees her on his chat site as one of his customers all bets are off.
Sexy. Sexy. Sexy. Normally I read romance books primarily for the plot and the romance is a fun bonus but wow. This just happened to come across my screen as a suggested audiobook and it is a choice I am so glad that I made. Rebel is great and Linx. Well that is something I will let you find out all about on your own. By the way I need to find a book in this series for Nash or I may just die. That country boy accent did me in. Especially since the narrator actually did it and it sounded like a genuine country accent. Yum. Definitely one to read.

Book Review: Eragon by Christopher Paolini

Image result for eragon    Eragon is a simple farm boy who has found a strange rock while hunting for his family. Hopefully he will be able to sell it for meat since he has been unsuccessful thus far on this trip. What he doesn't know is this rock will change his life and take him on the biggest adventure he could ever imagine. There will be losses and heartbreak but also victories that no one could have foretold. The best will be his companion and partner, Saphira. Travel with Eragon and Saphira as they grown together and become everything that they can be. Hopefully they don't make the wrong decisions.
I adored the movie Eragon growing up and now I realize all that I missed by not having read the book before now. Truly for anyone who loves dragons, swordplay, and magic this is a good story for them. Personally I am a big fan of dragons and never really got into the other portions as it seems to have been overdone but this is an amazing story. Enjoy.

Book Review: The Alpha Wont be Denied by Georgette St Clair (Timber Valley Book 6)

Image result for the alpha won't be denied by Georgette St Clair    Virginia is sick and tired of constantly being bossed around by her annoying alpha brothers and her alpha father. And now Carver, the alpha who used to be the Beta of the pack who kidnapped her cousin is sniffing at her heels. Like she would ever give him a chance. She needs to be her own person. Except when she gets drunk and marries him she must find out either how to live with him, or how to get him to agree to an annulment.
Carver has wanted Virginia since the first time she dumped a pitcher of beer on his head. Now that she is his wife all he has to do is convince her to stay with him. Totally not an issue. She wants to be shown that she can still be her own person while being the ate of an Alpha. She just has to trust him first. What better place to do that than far away from her family on their Honeymoon; on Honeymoon Mountain none the less.
By far the best in the series that I have read so far. Given it is the 6th book in the series and of those 6 this is the 3rd one that I have read. Virginia is the sassiest most stubborn woman that I have read about so far. Can Carver give Virginia the independence she has been straining for her whole life? Can Virginia learn to trust Carver enough with her secrets?
