Book Review: Branded by Keary Taylor

Image result for Branded by Keary Taylor    Jessica has been forced to stand trials for those who have died to see if they will go to heaven or hell for as long as she can remember and as a result every night she wakes up screaming, or at least every time she has to sleep, which isn't much. Her only companion is the battered and mentally unstable woman who lives next door, Sal and in a way she likes it that way. But when someone comes into the house she is care taking in the middle of the night everything changes. Even the trials that she must stand.
Alex has come home after his grandparents died and left him everything, including the house that Jessica is care taking. She is a small thing but he is instantly crazy about her. Now to get her out of the littler hermit shell she has built around herself. She has been through a lot and now there is this new neighbor who is trying to take her away from him...even if she isn't really his. Yet.
Alex is perfect and amazing and he deserves all good things. Jessica is such an amazing person even after everything that she has had to deal with. I am not so sure that I wouldn't have taken Emily's way out of it instead of having to deal with that every time I slept but honestly who knows. I don't believe I am capable of that but when faced with torture every time you fall asleep who knows what once is capable of. Anyway, this is a really great book and I am interested to see exactly how this plays out and how much time they get. Book 2 will be on my list at some point!

Book Review: Bound by a Dragon by Linda K. Hopkins

Image result for Bound by a Dragon by Linda K. Hopkins    Kiera is a small village country girl who sells her father's handmade kitchen wares at the market and helps her parents out with the farm chores. Edmond, the annoying man-child whom her mother expects her to marry one day, is getting more earnest in his advances and she would rather become a nun. In fact none of the men in her village suit her liking very much, until a Drake comes to town. But what chance does a simple farm girl have of capturing the interests of a Drake?
Aaron has come back to his birth-place in search of answers and to put the end of his parent's lives to rest in his mind, but when a little brunette captures his attention his stay may just be indefinitely extended. But can he grasp onto his humanity and allow this woman to fall for not only the man but also the beast that he hides?
Normally I am not one for time period pieces, avoiding them whenever possible, but something about a medieval dragon carrying away a maiden and her man fighting for her honor against someone everyone considers to be an upstanding member of society can draw a girl in. This is a lovely story, but I do wonder what happens to Anna. Something tells me it has something to do with Aaron's annoying cousin who is the black sheep of the family.

Book Review: Caged Wolf by SM Reine

Image result for Caged Wolf by SM Reine    Ofelia is trying to hide from her past in some little nowhere down just south of the Mexican border where she strips for the bikers and tends to the cage matches. It's nice and she has grown fond of the little town in some small way because it keeps her past far from her. That is until some biker group comes in talking about the Needles. No. It can't be the ones shes thinking of...could it?
Cooper was changed into a werewolf against his will and each change is very painful on him. But now that he has scented the little stripper he has to have her as his own. What lengths would he go to keep the little witch?
When two people both have a past that can hurt and chains that bind them to others it can be hard to trust let alone break free of the chains but hopefully they can work together and do just that. This is a nice little book where you are rooting for the girl who shouldn't be able to take down a pack of wolves. I really want to know what she is though and just that might be worth looking up the other books.

Book Review: Amy's Story by D'Elen McClain

Image result for Amy's Story by D'Elen McClain    Amy is a reporter trying to track down her next big story, the struggles of being a young escort while there is a murderer on the loose. When she is attacked by this very man someone with beautiful amber eyes comes to her rescue and she awakes in a home with a kind looking woman. Alba protects her from the other men and has her returned for she will play a larger part in their lives than any of them could ever imagine.
Marcus has loved and lost over the years and does not believe that he will ever love again after Victoria; but when he saves Amy from her attacker she smells just as sweet as his lost love. Unable to bring himself to do what is normal he brings her into his home and tells her all of their secrets. Could this strange female that his fiercest warrior is protecting with her life really be the missing part of his life?
This book will wrap you around it's finger and make you gasp for breath if you are forced from it's pages during the read. Truly a captivating story where you feel each emotion of the characters and they become your family as well. This story is beautiful even if it does end on a bittersweet note. If there are more in this series it will be one I seek out and I invite you to do the same. Good luck!

Book Review: The Lost Centurion by Monica La Porta

Image result for The Lost Centurion by Monica La Porta    Marcus has had everything he loved ripped away from him by a vampire but he must now save a vampling in order to find the whereabouts of the man who killed his wife. Could there ever be anything bright in his life again or will his immortal life be a bleak shadow until his curse is lifted?
Diana was an escort who had cancer but one of her clients took a liking to her, turning her into a vampire before she could be killed by her infection. Then he was killed and she was captured by some brute of a man who keeps insisting that he will not hurt her. Could this Roman really be there to help or did she just get plunged into a future just as bad as her past?
For those who love architecture but time period pieces are not something that thrills you this book takes forever to get through and is for the most part a very boring experience. At least I was not a fan but I completely understand to each their own and many enjoy time period pieces. Fight with the Centurion as he battles his past and for his future.
