Book Review: Fire in His Blood by Ruby Dixon (Fireblood Dragon Book 1)

Claudia has lived for the last 7 years since the skies opened up, depositing angry fearsome dragons onto the Earth, by being a scavenger. After all a woman with no money or someone to take care of her could only make her living as a scavenger or on her back. So, scavenging it was. It wasn't all bad; until she got sold out by the one she traded with. Now she is being cast out to be used as "bait". Whatever that means. If it weren't for her sister, Amy, and her best friend, Sasha, Claudia could manage on her own. But she had to help her little family. They wouldn't survive without her. Of course she may not survive being dragon bait to have to worry about it.
Kyle has known nothing but madness since he and his kind were thrust into this world by a kind of rift. There is no escape from the madness until he scents the little female tied up in a skyscraper within his territory. It is odd, she does not change into her battle form and will not take the gifts of food he offers her. None the less she is his mate and brings calm to his crazed mind. Kyle will stop at nothing to keep his Clauda safe and to make her his own.
Ruby Dixon has once again enraptured me with her out of this world men. We can always count on her male characters to understand the word no even if they do not speak the language. The fact that she never has her characters force themselves on her females is more than we can hope for in some cases.
Within these pages we find a post-apocalyptic world in which dragons, or Drakoni, have been pulled through a rift in the skies from their home world and into our own. They are impenetrable by all human weapons and we are powerless against them. There are red dragons and gold dragons. The reds are especially fierce, but they are both dangerous. The dragons themselves are plagued with a madness that is continuously sending them into a rage. The only calm comes from when they have a mate of their own. But, with the females not taking male Drakoni due to the madness and human females buried in that terrible stinking human nest they are being consumed by it.
Claudia is honorable as she puts her sister and her friend above her own desires again and again. I want only the best for them and I hope that they come in books later on. Besides, we all know that I am a sucker for a redhead. Kyle is lovely, as always with Ruby's males. Tall, sexy, thick black hair, and gold eyes. No complaints there. Personally I love a good post-apocalypse book. One where everything that we know and take for granted has been ripped away from us and we must all determine how to survive in this new hostile environment. Ruby does an amazing job of making you feel like you are right there experiencing the travesties that these humans have to call their daily lives. If you enjoy dragon shifters, post apocalypse, and romance then this is the book for you. And for those few of you who read most of my posts, I have brought you the first book in a series as I promised to do earlier this month.

Book Review: Red Tide by Mark James Miller

Image result for red tide mark james miller     Pete has always felt like he had something to live up to. A name, or in this case a nickname, given to him by his father: Pete. Pete was a fallen soldier with whom is father served during the war and who Pete has always believed had something to tell him. That being said, growing up can be hard. When there is so much around you that is confusing and you don't know what to do with it the stress of it all can get to you. Add in big secrets and it can send you over the edge. That is what has happened to our young Pete. Now we must strap in and begin the ride to see just how far he will go to find himself and put himself back together after all that he has witnessed.
Tom has ran from his problems all of his life. When he wanted to do something he has always just done it. No fear of repercussions. When he meets Pete they instantly become best friends and when he convinces Pete to go into the tower that night he never imagined what they would discover. But, running away has always been what he has been best at. Now would be a great time to run from his problems and he has convinced Pete to go with him.
Anjanette is also on the run from her past. As a prior prostitute she feels she has much to atone for. Leaving her daughter is one of those things and she hopes one day to be good enough to be a part of her life once more. She has made a pact with God that if he only spared her life she would get out of that life and never be with another man again. That seems possible until she meets two young boys who take her with them on a whirlwind adventure to Mexico.
There you go. In what is above I have summarized everything that I found remotely exciting about this book. That took some doing. It took me a long and grueling 16 days to complete this book. There was nothing wrong with the writing itself. It was understandable, which is more than I can say for some books that I have read in the past.
Initially I even wanted to like this book. After all, in a way it struck close to home for me. My grandfather's nickname is Pete. He was from California, blonde, loved to surf, and even got tied deeply into religion for a while. His home life was a mess, and he dropped out of high school. All things that our young Pete in this book also faced. Even down to playing around with older women and having his heart on a girl his age. So to say I wanted to like this book is easy.
The problem is that there is just so much foulness in this book that I was disgusted. When I was not disgusted by this book I was bored out of my mind. I am by no means a prude; which anyone who looks at my blog can surmise. However, there are some lines that I will not cross and this book toed that line multiple times. Although the author stated to me that he does not intend for this book to be read by adolescents (and after having read it I can understand why) this book starts out following the lives of two 17 year old boys. If you, dear reader, are like some and read the age of the characters and believe that the book is safe for children then take this review to heart and do not let your teenagers near this book.

Book Review: The Governess and the Beast by Karyn Gerrard (Blind Cupid Book 2)

Lila has finished her education and has answered an ad for a governess position with a Lord that everyone claims is a beast. The man is said to be horribly disfigured and unable to preform physically. Of course, that is all the better. It is best to keep her mind on his young charge and not on the man. If she never lays with another man she fears it may be too soon.
Simon has holed himself up in his father's castle since his injuries and does not wish to be around other people. The only problem with that is that he has grown lonely and has concocted this plan to hire a governess named Lila for his young charge who is in reality away at school. He hopes that he can convince her to stay with him and be his companion.
No matter how hard you try to escape your past you can't and there is no sense in running from it. Your past makes you who you are. It is something that you must come to terms with. Some people it just takes a little longer to realize that you don't need to hide from it. This is a sweet story about scars that are both inside and out. The scars do not hide beauty or take away from who someone is on the inside. I do not know that Simon would have ended up with Lila if not for what happened to him and I do not know that Lila would have ended up with Simon if not for what happened to her. I will not give anything away but just know that they try it for one night. Anything more than that you will have to discover for yourself within the pages of this book. I wish you all the best in your discoveries. At some point I am sure I will bring you a book that is the first in a series rather than second. For now, at least with this book, I cannot make that promise.

Book Review: Snowed in with the boss by Lili Valente (Master Me Book 2)

Image result for snowed in with the boss     Jane has been wanting to explore the sub side of herself, but she got caught sending email correspondences with a possible dom by her boss at work. Now she is in his office and there is a letter on his desk for her. Suggesting that he be her dom for the night and just what kind of man she was speaking with before. Jane has to admit that the thought has merit, but how will she ever be able to face Tenn after tonight?
When Tenn first seen the emails sent by his sweet Janie he couldn't quite believe it. He had wanted her for so long, but he had always thought of her as too innocent for his kind of lifestyle. The things that he needed took a certain kind of woman. Even if he could only have her for one night it would have to be enough. This would have to be the night that he got to do everything that he had ever dreamed about with that beautiful woman because he may never get another chance.
I was drawn into this book from the very first paragraph and could not put it down until it was finished. There is never a bad time for a bit of BDSM. This is a short story and the twist in it is simply feelings. The fear of feelings can get in the way of a good time sometimes and other times it can just make it so much better. There is just something about a woman who needs to be punished and shown who is boss and a man who is man enough to handle her.
Once again I have managed to find the second book in a series. This is one that it does not matter if it is book one or book 10 in a series as I do not feel as if I have missed anything by not having read book one just yet. For those of you who like a book about a woman who can stand on her own, but likes to be controlled by someone who knows how to do it look no farther than this sexy little short story. I expect many more great things from Lili in the future.

Book Review: The Wedding Rescue by Alexa Wilder (The Billionaire Club Book 1)

Image result for the wedding rescue alexa wilder     Leigha has had a bad month. Her douchebag of an ex boyfriend stole $10, 000 from her savings account and on top of that she now has to attend her horrible sister's wedding alone while paying for a room in a Casino/Hotel in her own town. She has now found herself at the bar killing time before she goes to dinner with her Mother and Sisters. When she is approached by a man who is way out of her league she is reminded why she has sworn off men for now.
Dylan Kane seen the beautiful curvy woman at his bar and just had to get her into his bed. What he didn't expect was that she would be as smart and funny as she is gorgeous. She is a real woman. Not made up and overly skinny like the women who are normally around him. And she needs some things solved. Good thing he is just the man to solve all of her problems. In exchange for her spending the weekend doing his bidding.
When I started this book it had different expectations of the book then what it ended up being. That being said I am not in the least bit disappointed. Yet again I have found a book about a almost overly curvy girl with self esteem issues. Something that I can completely relate to. The sweet, kind, caring man is great as well. All in all there is nothing that I would change about this book. The multiple books is a bit of a throw off, but as long as you get all of the books before you begin you are good to go. I do hope the other books in this series are about Dylan's two friends. In a way I hope they end up with her sisters. Not because I wish anything bad on those men, but because someone has to tame those beasts.

Book Review: Some Sort of Crazy by Melanie Harlow (Happy Crazy Love Book 2)

Image result for some sort of crazy by melanie harlow     Natalie's life is going exactly as she wants it to. She just bought her dream home, she has her own business that is doing well, and she and her boyfriend of 10 years plan to get engaged this summer. What more could a girl ask for? When she and her sisters go out celebrating they decide the best place to go while drunk is to a psychic that tells Natalie that her entire life is about to get turned upside down by some man whose name she doesn't even know. Yeah right.
Miles has always felt a connection to Natalie, his best friend growing up and all through his adult life; but he has never acted on it. They were simply doomed to always have almosts between them. Until he learns what Natalie's boyfriend has been doing and he is set on showing her the time of her life. Even if it is all in play. Besides, the psychic did say a man whose name she didn't know would upend her world right? Well, Nat doesn't know his first name. That should count.
I started this book one night and loved it so much that I had to keep reading until it was finished. Before beginning this review I did not realize this was book 2. I thought the other couple in the book was just her sister and her fiance. Turns out they might be willing to share their story with us as well. Some parts of this book made me enraptured while others had me rolling my eyes and wanting that part to be over. I am all for BDSM and am quite fond of it even in my personal life. That being said I can't stand being called a slut, even within the bedroom so that part grated on my nerves. I understand that that is something that some women are into, but everyone has their opinions.
If you can ignore the woman being called a slut and you like a steamy romance with a strong tattooed man then this book is for you. Also, bonus points for man with glasses. Just saying.

Book Review: Wager of Death by Brian Peterson

Image result for wager of death brian peterson     Walt, Bill, and Alex have built a large company that is on the rise with the help of their long-time friend and lawyer, Tony. Together they have created Triumvirate Technologies. They are even starting to bring in newer young partners to their company while they prepare to begin a contract with the Department of Defense. Everything was looking up for them, until Bill came in one morning concerned about the death of another Won Yoo in the general area.
Since that day all of Walt's friends were dying and the young partner they have brought in has tricked him into an illegal bet for his company---and possibly more. Even his own daughter has turned on him. With his deadline to commit suicide approaching quickly can Walt find out who has murdered his friends and save his company?
This book will capture you from the first murder and keep you wondering until the last chapter. Whatever ideas you think you have about who the murderer is, hold them close, but don't stop reading. This book is twisted and realistic. There is nothing in this book that could not happen and that is what makes it all the more scary. I can honestly say that I completely enjoyed this book and would suggest it to anyone with a love of murder, mystery, and sabotage. The way Brian Peterson is able to spin this physiological thriller will have you bouncing on who you think the murderer is even towards the end of the book.

Instead, you are completely submerged in the story as if you are watching the events unfold. Afterall, who doesn't love a beautiful redheaded woman who doesn't back down? I fully enjoyed this book and if you get the chance the read this book then you should. I adored Autumn from the start and wanted nothing less than for her to be completely happy.
