Book Review: Fire in His Blood by Ruby Dixon (Fireblood Dragon Book 1)

Claudia has lived for the last 7 years since the skies opened up, depositing angry fearsome dragons onto the Earth, by being a scavenger. After all a woman with no money or someone to take care of her could only make her living as a scavenger or on her back. So, scavenging it was. It wasn't all bad; until she got sold out by the one she traded with. Now she is being cast out to be used as "bait". Whatever that means. If it weren't for her sister, Amy, and her best friend, Sasha, Claudia could manage on her own. But she had to help her little family. They wouldn't survive without her. Of course she may not survive being dragon bait to have to worry about it.
Kyle has known nothing but madness since he and his kind were thrust into this world by a kind of rift. There is no escape from the madness until he scents the little female tied up in a skyscraper within his territory. It is odd, she does not change into her battle form and will not take the gifts of food he offers her. None the less she is his mate and brings calm to his crazed mind. Kyle will stop at nothing to keep his Clauda safe and to make her his own.
Ruby Dixon has once again enraptured me with her out of this world men. We can always count on her male characters to understand the word no even if they do not speak the language. The fact that she never has her characters force themselves on her females is more than we can hope for in some cases.
Within these pages we find a post-apocalyptic world in which dragons, or Drakoni, have been pulled through a rift in the skies from their home world and into our own. They are impenetrable by all human weapons and we are powerless against them. There are red dragons and gold dragons. The reds are especially fierce, but they are both dangerous. The dragons themselves are plagued with a madness that is continuously sending them into a rage. The only calm comes from when they have a mate of their own. But, with the females not taking male Drakoni due to the madness and human females buried in that terrible stinking human nest they are being consumed by it.
Claudia is honorable as she puts her sister and her friend above her own desires again and again. I want only the best for them and I hope that they come in books later on. Besides, we all know that I am a sucker for a redhead. Kyle is lovely, as always with Ruby's males. Tall, sexy, thick black hair, and gold eyes. No complaints there. Personally I love a good post-apocalypse book. One where everything that we know and take for granted has been ripped away from us and we must all determine how to survive in this new hostile environment. Ruby does an amazing job of making you feel like you are right there experiencing the travesties that these humans have to call their daily lives. If you enjoy dragon shifters, post apocalypse, and romance then this is the book for you. And for those few of you who read most of my posts, I have brought you the first book in a series as I promised to do earlier this month.
This book is available on Amazon for $4.99 at https://amzn.to/2TiRf6I.
