Book Review: Branded by Keary Taylor

Image result for Branded by Keary Taylor    Jessica has been forced to stand trials for those who have died to see if they will go to heaven or hell for as long as she can remember and as a result every night she wakes up screaming, or at least every time she has to sleep, which isn't much. Her only companion is the battered and mentally unstable woman who lives next door, Sal and in a way she likes it that way. But when someone comes into the house she is care taking in the middle of the night everything changes. Even the trials that she must stand.
Alex has come home after his grandparents died and left him everything, including the house that Jessica is care taking. She is a small thing but he is instantly crazy about her. Now to get her out of the littler hermit shell she has built around herself. She has been through a lot and now there is this new neighbor who is trying to take her away from him...even if she isn't really his. Yet.
Alex is perfect and amazing and he deserves all good things. Jessica is such an amazing person even after everything that she has had to deal with. I am not so sure that I wouldn't have taken Emily's way out of it instead of having to deal with that every time I slept but honestly who knows. I don't believe I am capable of that but when faced with torture every time you fall asleep who knows what once is capable of. Anyway, this is a really great book and I am interested to see exactly how this plays out and how much time they get. Book 2 will be on my list at some point!
