I love this series so much. I devoured Book 1 and practically harassed my husband while he was reading this book because I needed it immediately. No regrets.
This is a dark why choose / reverse harem fantasy packed with spice and even more action. Annex remains my favorite, though he becomes noticeably sweeter and more doting in this book. Mallon has fully accepted her, Ezra drops a massive (though somewhat predictable) reveal at the end, and Creed is still firmly in the enemies section of what is clearly an enemies-to-lovers arc.
The series is structured around five males and one female, though the fifth hasn’t been fully introduced yet. I’m personally hoping it’s Gadriel. Creed will absolutely fall eventually—it’s inevitable—but for now, the tension is delicious.
Micai is finally building relationships outside of the group and carving out her own identity. However, she still hasn’t told the guys about her past-life knowledge and timeline changes, and the longer she waits, the more dangerous that secret becomes. The shifting history aspect is one of my favorite parts—events are unfolding differently this time, which creates both hope and new threats.
And yes—I still hate her sister.
Full disclosure: I finished this in March and waited impatiently for Book 3, which released September 16 (2 days ago). I’m already 15% in.
