Book Review: Claire's Apocalypse by K. T. Rose

When Claire is fired by the new general and ordered to destroy the project she has been working on for the last 9 years she just can't do it. So when another offers to buy her project for 3 million plus 3 tickets for she, her husband, and daughter to an underground bunker she jumps at the chance. After all it is better for her viral infection to be locked away somewhere then to be destroyed like it never existed. What is the worst that can happen? Or will she turn her back on this and do the right thing, destroying this thing that never should have existed and could end life as we know it.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I am always one for an apocalyptic book or even post apocalyptic so I was very excited for this book. This is kind of a starting point book.

With most apocalyptic books it is after the catalyst, but this is what leads up to the apocalypse.  Unfortunately, this book isn't completely implausible. Too many people play with biochemistry and things that are best left alone. I would like to know what happens next. If there is a cure. What the survival rate is. All kinds of things.

Normally I try not to give things away, but since the title of the book includes that it is about an apocalypse I figure what I have disclosed is easy enough to guess. What the sickness does, how it is released, by who, and when is still a mystery. I hope that there is more to this story in the future as this only gives a snippet of what I want to know. It was a very intriguing story and I enjoyed reading it.

I have to say that I absolutely hated Claire's family. Her husband takes advantage of her. I can't really say I hate her daughter. She's nine. So her snapping and saying things to her mother after she lost her job is forgivable. The husband though. He plays in gigs in a band while she supports their family. While I agree she should have bit her tongue and destroyed it he isn't helping matters any. While it didn't come out and say it it was as if the fact he may have to grow up and be a real adult was the worst possible thing that could happen. Can't say I respect those qualities in either sex be it male or female.
