Book Review: Captured by Erica Stevens

     Humans lost the war with the vampires over a hundred years ago and now have two options: pledge their lives to the monsters or live in caves in the woods with the rebellion. When members of the rebellion are captured by the vampires they become something known as blood slaves. Humans to be used for whatever whims their masters had before being sold to another or killed. That is just the position Aria, daughter of the rebellion leader, has found herself in. Not only is she now a blood slave, but a blood slave to her enemy number one: a prince of vampires. Too bad this particular monster is so attractive.

    Prince Braith has seen nothing for a hundred years until he spots a human about to be sold at the blood slave auction. Although he has never cared to have a blood slave before he feels an exception must be made in this case. After all, she is a mystery that must be solved. Although he has always felt disdain for the human creatures that were below him there is something about the feisty redhead that he cannot bear for harm to come to her. 

    Although this book seems like the perfect setup for a Stockholm syndrome, it really isn't. Yes there are feelings for a captor, but the feelings are on both ends and I don't know. It is just a bit different. He doesn't mistreat her and only does the minimum required by the law with his blood slave. They bicker and are going at it throughout the entire book leaving much left unanswered when the book ends.
