Book Review: I Got Abducted by Aliens and now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberling Lemming (Cosmic Chaos Book 1)

Genre: Sci-Fi Romance / Alien Romantasy / Erotic Comedy
Tropes: Alien Abduction, Reverse Harem (Why Choose), Wizard of Oz Retelling, Fated Bonds, Talking Animals, Found Family, Cliffhanger Ending, Dubious Consent
Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
Format: Audiobook
Series: Cosmic Chaos Book 1 (Ends on a Cliffhanger; Main Arc Satisfied)

Dorothy was filming the meerkats fierce battle when a lion ambushed her and ripped out her throat. As she lay dying a beam of light exploded around her and she watched in shock as she and the lion flew into the air. On a spaceship tiny owl creatures covered her in some kind of goop that ended up working as a translator. Once she and her new lion friend escaped she wanted nothing more than to get back to her wildlife. But, she and Toto aren’t in Kansas anymore…well the Savannah...

I got this audiobook with my monthly audible credit and when I tell you I loved every single second of this book I mean it. The narration is amazing. The characters humor is amazing. I officially need to read everything by this author and need the rest of this series to happen immediately. Full disclosure this is SMUT. Like a lot of smut. Explicit scenes, outdoors, and tail play. Not the lion. Aliens. Which is much better. I will say that the consent was...dubious. Intern and his damnable darts....you'll see what I mean.

I loved all of the Wizard of Oz references in the book and kind of hate Intern. He is a deceitful little owlish that really needs plucked. I wonder how much better things would have gone for them had they just killed him from the beginning. This book ends on a cliff-hanger, but Dorothy, Lok, and Sol’s story seems to be finished. I hope they stay on as background characters.

Also, did I mention there are dinosaurs? Like constantly. Loved that more than I can say. And a pink T Rex? Also wonderful. Although, I am not sure how much of it the owlish just pulled out of their feathers like the “human enrichment items”. You will be laughing all the time with this read and enjoying all the spice. Absolutely amazing read and can’t wait for more from this author.

This book is available on Amazon for $6.99 by clicking here.

You’ll Love This Book If You Enjoy:

  • Alien reverse harem romance
  • Campy, chaotic humor
  • Wizard of Oz–inspired retellings
  • Explicit, creative spice
  • Talking animal companions
  • Dinosaurs in space
  • Audiobooks with stellar narration

This was wildly entertaining from start to finish. I need the rest of this series immediately—and I’ll absolutely be reading everything this author writes.

Book Review: Fear Farm No Trespassers by S. J. Krandall

 Genre: Psychological Horror / Thriller

Tropes: Small Town Secrets, Unreliable Narrator, Disappearances, Serial Killer Threads, Short-Story Structure, High Tension

Spice Level: None

Format: Physical Copy (Signed Edition)

Series: Standalone

Over the course of a year several people had gone missing from a section of deep country-side never to be heard from again. Rumors abound, but no one knows for sure what happened. A young woman obsessed with their fates begins to live them. Are they real or a figment of her imagination?

I received a physical copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. That book was signed and even had a cute little photo of the actual farmhouse the author based the stories around.

I like this book if you think of it like a series of short stories around one area. If you try to connect each chapter into one overall story that is where it gets confusing. I read it and reread parts and I still don’t know how they are connected. Outside of the murder bit.

That isn’t to say the book is bad, far from it. We have a high tension read where you never know if anyone is going to survive. Just because a story is from that person’s perspective doesn’t mean they will make it. I loved that part, because we usually know someone will live till the end.

The book is well written as a series of short stories. Each chapter has a new instance set in the same general area with the same murderer. That person may or may not be alive, but the risk is still the same. The stories had a very Twilight Zone feel to them and I would absolutely read more by this author in the future.

This book is available on Amazon for $8.99 by clicking here.

This is a strong, well-written collection that thrives on mood and unpredictability. I would absolutely read more from this author in the future.

Book Review: X by Mandy Lee (X, Y, Z Trilogy Book 1)

Genre: Contemporary Romance (Grey/Dark Elements)
Tropes: Boss/Employee Romance, Secret Identity, Masked Stranger, Workplace Tension, Emotional Healing, Open Door
Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶
Format: eBook

Series: X, Y, Z Trilogy Book 1 (Works as a Standalone; Timeline Goes Backward)

Ella’s life is spiraling into chaos with the purchase of the publishing agency she works for. Determined to release a bit of the tension she accepts the proposal of a man that goes by X at a club. With her blind-folded and him not speaking she gives over control to regain a bit of herself. Meanwhile, her boss Max Delaney demands she stay with the firm and will not take no for an answer. No matter that Ella doesn’t agree with any of the companies practices.

I am torn on this book. This is a series where are the background characters already have their HEA and moving forward is going back in time. I won’t be reading further in the series for just that reason. That being said, if you want to read this book as a stand-alone it works well in that way.

It is an open door contemporary romance with dark romance aspects, although it is more grey than actual black. It is also a boss/employee romance book and the FMC is a romance publisher. Loved the little snippets of her reading romance books while dealing with everything else in the story.

Full disclaimer, this book makes it out that the FMC is well on her way to becoming an alcoholic for the first part of the book. She slowly gets her life together, but if that is something you can’t handle reading there is your warning.

The MMC hides his identity for the first little bit, but it was obvious from the beginning who it was. I really enjoyed this book, but again, I fully intend to read it as a stand-alone and not touch the rest of the series. That being said, I would absolutely read more by this author in the future, just in a different series.

Book Review: Hex, Love, and Rock & Roll by Kat Turner (Coven Daughters Book 1)

Genre: Paranormal Romance / Contemporary Fantasy

Tropes: Celebrity Romance, Age Gap, Accidental Curse, Witchy Magic, Grumpy/Skeptic Hero, Forced Proximity, Slow Burn Tension

Spice Level: 🌶🌶

Helen is desperate. Her yoga studio is failing after a disastrous investment. Her best friend can barely look at her. So when she’s offered the chance at a money spell, she takes it. The witch gives her a choice: Left or right. Choose wrong, and there will be consequences. Helen chooses. She’s gifted enchanted crystals and strict instructions: bless one with good intentions and gift it properly. Skip a step, and a curse follows. And somehow? She accidentally hexes her celebrity crush. Brian. The Brian. The only problem? He doesn’t believe in magic. Now they’re stuck together trying to break a curse he isn’t even convinced exists.

This is a paranormal age-gap celebrity romance with strong magical elements and plenty of spice. It takes a minute to really get going—but in the best way. The tension builds steadily. There’s delicious back-and-forth, stubbornness, denial, and just enough chaos to keep you turning pages. I genuinely wondered how the author would wrap everything up as the ending approached. They absolutely did. The couple’s arc feels complete, satisfying, and earned—while still leaving plenty of magical threads open for future books in the series.

I loved the characters and the world building in the story and will absolutely read on at some point. The author does an amazing job of describing everything the characters are going through and I especially loved the astral-projection scenes.

This book is available on Kindle Unlimited or buy it on Amazon for $3.99 by clicking here.

You’ll Love This If You Enjoy:

  • Witchy vibes with real consequences
  • Celebrity romances with tension
  • Age-gap dynamics
  • Slow burn that turns spicy
  • Magic that feels vivid and dangerous
  • Emotional payoff with a satisfying ending

I really enjoyed this one and will absolutely continue the series when I’m in the mood for more magic.

Book Review: Star Cursed by Elizabeth Briggs (Zodiac Wolves Book 2)

Genre: Paranormal Romance / Shifter Romance

Tropes: Fated Mates, Rejected Mate, Captive Heroine, Forced Bond Threat, Pack Politics, Love Triangle Tension, Cliffhanger Ending

Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶🌶

Format: eBook

Series: Book 2

Ayla didn’t leave the Ophiucus pack because she wanted to. She left to protect them. Unfortunately… no one knows that. To her pack, she chose her mate. To Ayla, that mate is the enemy. Jordan insists he isn’t his father. He claims everything he’s done has been strategic. Necessary. Protective. But their mate bond feels wrong—twisted—and Ayla can’t shake the pull back to Kaeden, her pack, and the life she sacrificed. Now it’s a race against time. She needs to escape—with her best friend Mira—before Jordan forces the bond permanently. Thank goodness for Moon magic.

Book 2 picks up immediately where Book 1’s cliffhanger ends. There’s no recap cushion. If you haven’t read the first book, stop here and go back. Even describing the premise feels like a spoiler.

This book opens by playing with your feelings… and then immediately drops you into disgust. Not that I liked Jordan to begin with. I didn’t. And the Sun Witches? Also not high on my favorites list. But there’s a moment early on that delivers a full-body ick that solidified exactly where I stand. After that? The tension shifts. Because once the spice kicks in, it kicks in. And there’s a lot of it. The chemistry is intense, emotional, and messy—exactly what you expect from a fated mates storyline tangled in betrayal and pack loyalty.

Just like Book 1, this ends on a cliffhanger. And this one hurts. It’s sad. It’s heavy. It makes you question everything. I’m debating jumping into Book 3 immediately. The story is genuinely strong and addictive, but staying in the same couple’s tension arc for multiple books can start to feel repetitive. That said… I’ll probably circle back, because the world-building and emotional stakes are too good to ignore.

This book is available on Kindle Unlimited or buy it on Amazon for $4.99 by clicking here.

You’ll love this book if you enjoy:

If you thrive on paranormal drama, messy bonds, and heat-heavy romance with serious angst, this series absolutely delivers.

Moon Touched (Zodiac Wolves Book 1)

Book Review: Pumpkin Spice Café by Lauren Gilmore (Dream Harbor Book 1)

 Genre: Contemporary Small-Town Romance

Tropes: Big City to Small Town, Grumpy Farmer, Gifted Café, Found Community, Meet-Cute Chaos

Spice Level: 🌶🌶

Series: Dream Harbor Book 1

Jeanie’s life changes overnight when her aunt retires and gifts her the town’s beloved café. Trading her predictable desk job for frothy lattes and small-town charm, Jeanie is ready for a fresh start. What she’s not ready for? Nearly taking off local farmer Logan’s head with a baseball bat when she hears a suspicious noise outside—only to discover he’s just delivering her produce. Small-town romance at its finest.

This is pure TikTok-made-me-read-it energy—and honestly? No regrets. It’s cozy. It’s charming. It’s giving full Hallmark movie magic. We get a welcoming (and slightly nosy) small town, a town meeting where Jeanie suggests the café might be haunted, and plenty of soft, sweet chemistry. The ghost paranoia storyline adds just enough quirk to keep things fun without tipping into anything heavy.

This is open-door, but the spice stays in the background. You get a couple of satisfying scenes, but the emotional connection, town dynamics, and cozy atmosphere are clearly the focus. The romance feels natural, steady, and warm—perfect for a fall read with a blanket and a cup of tea.

Everything wraps up nicely, making this a satisfying standalone. There are background characters I’d happily read more about, but nothing feels unfinished if you stop here.

This book is available on Kindle Unlimited or buy it on Amazon for Amazon for $11.99 by clicking here.

You'll Love this if you Love:

  • Big-city girl fresh starts
  • Sweet, steady farmers
  • Cozy café settings
  • Low angst
  • Fall comfort reads

This one is a delightful, low-drama escape. 🍂

Book Review: Crime Lord’s Captive by Mia Knight (Crime Lords Book 1)

Genre: Dark Contemporary Romance / Mafia Romance

Tropes: Obsessed Antihero, Forced Proximity, Captive Romance, Exes to Lovers, Possessive MMC, Debt Leverage
Spice Level: 🌶🌶
Series: Crime Lords Book 1

Lyla left her boyfriend 3 years ago and has been in hiding ever since. She moved, changed her name, and finally let down her guard enough to start dating a safe man. They just moved in together and it is his first out of town trip. Coming home the door is ajar only to find that her ex’s bodyguard is there to bring her back. Gavin will stop at nothing for her to be back at his side. Even if that means taking advantage of her father’s gambling debts.

I have so many mixed feelings about this book. I love dark romance. Murder people. Commit all the crimes in the world. But you don’t hurt the FMC and you definitely don’t cheat. It’s why we have book boyfriends. If we wanted real world assholes we wouldn’t be in our books. We start out by finding out she had a problem with his mafia murders. So far so good. She will get over it. Then when he gets her back he blacks her eye and beats the shit out of her. Are you kidding me?! Then we find out that the way she found out about his murder escapades was because she was confronting him about having an orgy at a club with other women?!

But, I kept reading. Maybe there was a redemption arc. It definitely seemed that way for a minute. His father threatened him. He chilled out. He began doting on her and treating her right. Then his best friend died and everything goes to hell. I hate him. I don’t want to read any more in this cliff-hanger book because I just can’t with the MMC. I loved Lyla. I loved Gavin’s father. I loved Lyla’s cousin. But Gavin? He can kick dirt.

This book is available of Amazon for $2.99 by clicking here.

🖤 You’ll Love This Book If You Enjoy:

  • Very dark mafia romance
  • Possessive, obsessive antiheroes
  • Captive/forced return storylines
  • Emotional turmoil and high angst
  • Cliffhangers that leave you reeling
  • MMCs who don’t soften easily

If you’re looking for a dark romance where the hero doesn’t clean up nicely and the redemption is anything but guaranteed, this might be your kind of chaos.

Book Review: Shakin’ by Sloane Castle

 Genre: Contemporary Romance

Tropes: Rockstar Romance, Instalust, He Falls First (But Denies It), Artist x Musician, Second Chance Vibes, Emotional Slow Burn with Fast Heat

Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶🌶

Cliffhanger: No – standalone

Vayda has been a fan of Razor’s Edge ever since she first discovered them after a bad breakup a few years ago. Now that they have come to her town she is intent on going to their concert. When lead singer Dash locks eyes with her in the crowd it is like he is singing right to her. Making her way backstage after the show isn’t hard. Neither is walking straight into their dressing room where she dangles her keys and asks if he wants to get out of there. The chemistry is immediate and all consuming, but as long as feelings stay out of it her heart will be safe.

Yet another Facebook Ads made me get it. Once again I have no regrets. This is a fast paced and very spicy contemporary romance with a graphic designer and a Rockstar. Both don’t do relationships…until they do. This book also has a bit of a second chance romance aspect in it, but I don’t want to give too much away with that part.

I loved both of the main characters and their big personalities. Both seem to fly a little too close to the sun while living their best lives. He has admired her work, without knowing she was the designer behind it and she has loved his band for the longest. I really enjoyed both of the characters fighting and denying their own feelings when it was so obvious to everyone.

This book wraps up nicely and as far as I know is a standalone. I would absolutely read more by this author in the future.

This book is available on Kindle Unlimited or buy it on Amazon for $2.99 by clicking here.

🎤 You’ll Love This If You Enjoy:

  • Rockstar x civilian romance
  • Backstage hookups turning into something more
  • Strong, creative female leads
  • Mutual admiration before they even meet
  • Big chemistry and bigger personalities
  • Emotional denial before the inevitable fall

If you’re in the mood for a bold, spicy rockstar romance where both leads swear they don’t do relationships—until they absolutely do—this one hits all the right notes. 🎶

Book Review: The Tomb of the Black Pharaoh by Christopher Michael

Genre: Historical Horror / Occult Thriller

Tropes: WWII Espionage, Nazi Occult Plot, Ancient Artifact, Academic Turned Spy, Lovecraftian Influence, Desert Tomb Discovery

Spice Level: 🌶 (Minimal – plot-driven, no focus on romance)

Format: Audiobook (also available in print/eBook)

Series: Standalone

Danforth, once a university scholar immersed in arcane studies, now works for the OSS during World War II. When intelligence reveals a Nazi plot to recover the Talisman of the Black Pharaoh, he’s sent to Egypt to stop them. Armed with his knowledge of the occult—and a strange personal pull toward the artifact—Danforth quickly realizes this mission is far more dangerous than simple wartime espionage. Because if the Nazis obtain the talisman? No one knows the full extent of the destruction it could unleash. And it’s best not to find out.

I received an audiobook copy in exchange for an honest review, and while I genuinely enjoyed the story, the narration didn’t work for me. The delivery leaned heavily monotone, and several pronunciations—most notably “skeletal” pronounced as “skel-ee-tall”—pulled me out of the experience repeatedly. That said, this critique applies specifically to the audiobook performance, not the writing itself.

Focusing purely on the narrative, this is a fast-paced, atmospheric WWII horror adventure. The author clearly has a deep appreciation for Lovecraftian themes—ancient tomes, forbidden knowledge, creeping dread—and blends them seamlessly with historical espionage. The worldbuilding is immersive. From the university halls where Danforth first uncovers the occult tome to the bustling streets of Cairo and the haunting silence of desert tombs, the settings are richly described. I could vividly picture the museum and the excavation scenes once the artifact hunt begins. The tension builds steadily, combining historical stakes with supernatural horror in a way that feels cinematic.

As a WWII-era occult thriller with strong Lovecraftian inspiration, this story absolutely delivers. It’s immersive, well-written, and packed with tension and atmosphere. I would gladly read more from this author—especially in eBook or physical format, where the prose and worldbuilding can shine without distraction. There’s clear passion behind the storytelling, and plenty of room for more dark historical adventures.

This book is available on Kindle Unlimited or buy it on Amazon for $2.99 by clickinghere.

🔥 You’ll love this book if you enjoy:

  • WWII espionage with supernatural stakes
  • Nazi occult conspiracy plots
  • Lovecraft-inspired horror elements
  • Academic protagonists drawn into danger
  • Ancient artifacts with world-ending potential
  • Atmospheric desert and tomb settings
  • Fast-paced historical thrillers with horror undertones

If you’re drawn to historical horror that blends wartime espionage with ancient cosmic dread, this one is well worth exploring—preferably in print.

Book Review: Dueling Flames by Calia Wilde (Destroyers MC Book 6)

Genre: Contemporary Romance / MC (Motorcycle Club) Romance
Tropes: Small-Town Feud, MC Club Loyalty, Second Chance at Love, Protective Alpha, Escaping Abusive Ex, Found Family
Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶 (High – open-door, emotionally driven heat)
Format: eBook
Series: Destroyers MC Book 6

Kid stopped in his home town and went to the Winchester family diner. He knew he wasn’t welcome there with the feud still well in place, but no one cooked better than a Winchester. Sierra had left her good for nothing husband and was working at the diner with her Maemaw when Kid came in. Damned MacMillan, but he may be the only one willing to help her.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. If you are new here this is book 6 in an absolutely amazing contemporary romance MC club series. They could be read as stand-alones if you care zero for background plot. I don’t suggest it. You really need to know about the other club and the background characters. All very important.

This book isn’t as heavily focused on the club as some of the other books, though. This book focuses on Sierra’s issues with her ex husband and everything he puts her through while she finds her way with Kid. Kid has always been a fixture in these books popping up as someone loyal, trustworthy, and a little unhinged. He kept that vibe in this book and I couldn’t be happier with how this book ended.

I will say that I didn’t read books 6 and 7 in order. I accidentally read book 7 first, so I got a few spoilers along the way. It did not take away from the enjoyment of this book at all and I would love to read more by this author in the future. That being said, I couldn’t imagine a better fate for her ex.

This book is available on Amazon for $4.99 by clicking here.

🔥 You’ll love this book if you enjoy:

  • Motorcycle club romance with strong brotherhood vibes
  • Small-town family feuds
  • Protective, slightly unhinged alpha heroes
  • Heroines escaping toxic marriages
  • Found family dynamics
  • High-spice contemporary romance
  • Series with interconnected couples and ongoing club drama

If you love gritty MC romance with heart, heat, and justice served exactly the way it should be, this one delivers.
