Book Review: The Divine and the Cursed by J. E. Reed (Fae of Alastriona Book 1)

Arianna was stolen from her family at eighteen and has been a slave for the last few months. She has only remained hidden because she has shown no fae powers, so far, but they can't be far off then there will be no hiding her bloodline. When the slavers are attacked and she is taken hope soars for a moment before crashing down. She is now the personal slave of the Cursed one. General Rion is ruthless and slaughtered countless of her kingdom. Now she is completely at his mercy.

I found this audiobook on YouTube then loved it so much that I didn't want to stop reading it to go to bed. Went to find the book on Kindle to purchase and discovered it was already in my TBR...happens more than I want to admit. I finished this book in one night and loved every second of it.

This is absolutely an enemies to lovers book that ends on a cliff-hanger. You start out wanting good things for her best friend, but by the end he's too....cute? Not sure what word to use there. This is a dark romantasy book that includes beatings, murder, slavery, and mentioned rape. Please check trigger warnings before you read.

I will absolutely be reading on in this series. I loved how she slowly revealed her powers to someone who she should hate and should hate her. I loved the fighting together. Yes he is burn the world down for her but she is also got an independent I can do it myself streak. Even if she got queasy afterwards. She will toughen up. Then there was the battle at the end. Loved everything in this book and can't wait to read more.

Rion is probably my favorite villain turned love interest that I have read in a long time. Absolutely hands down. Thinks he is beyond saving and is all darkness but he is secretly mush that just wants love. Dawww.

Book Review: Nemesis by Anna Mocikat (Space Punks Book 4)

Before heading to the tunnel Niemand  believes Hel and the crew should first go back to Ceres as the artifact previously found is part of a twin set. If that is true, the potential could be catastrophic. While thinking on this Hel and the crew travel to get supplies for the long journey through the tunnel. However, nothing with Nephilim's crew is ever cut and dry. Especially when an old lover turned foe is hot on their heels.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I have read every book that Anna has put out since I first found her and have yet to be disappointed by one. I will start by saying this is book 4 in an, as of yet, unfinished series. It cannot be read as a stand-alone and does end on a cliffhanger. The main purpose of this story has been accomplished while there is plenty more that still needs to be resolved. I will definitely be reading the next book whenever it comes out. On to this one.

I loved the writing and the scenery. We still have all of the same characters from the first 4 books along with 2 new characters from the last book. We have gained more information about the foes and about our puppies. Be that David or Grinder. Grinder has absolutely made his way to my favorite character spot, but of course how could a giant murderous cyber-dog not?

I can't wait to find out what this new information has in store for David and if the potential for a better future for the professor is there with his more recent attitude change. I love how the book left off right before the epilogue, although I do hope the one that was taken control of is going to survive and not be a vegetable afterwards. I am being very intentionally vague so as not to give anything away.

Absolutely loved everything about this fast paced and action filled book.

Book Review: Shadows of the Past by Anna Mocikat (Space Punks Book 3)

Following their successful heist Aztec, David, and the others have retreated to a Martian canyon. The Legion won't let them get away with this theft without a fight, however, and neither will Lucian. Decisions will need to be made and sides to be chosen.

I have read most of this author's books and they have never once disappointed. As always with her books this is not a stand-alone. You MUST read books 1 & 2 first or you will be completely lost. There is a bit of refresher information, but not enough to clue in someone who hasn't read the rest of the series.

This is a very action packed sci-fi that is low spice. There is still a bit of spice, but it is implied versus explicit. Not at all complaining. The author does a great job of jumping from one action filled scene to the next.

We go deeper into the synthetic machine aspect with Niemend and David as well as touch on Niemend's beliefs. It also 100% ends on a cliffhanger. Thankfully book 4 is already out because once you finish book 3 you will need the next.

I love all of the characters as much as in Book 1. You never know what exactly the future will hold...but I'm holding out hope for another machine vs human war.

Book Review: Sold by Lauren Landish and Willow Winters (Highest Bidder Book 2)

Katia is broken. She went through the impossible when she was kidnapped, became a Slave to her Master, and was shared by his crew. Isaac knows what she has been through and is intent on keeping his kitten.

This is book 2 in a series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but there is some past character overlap that will give some things away. It is a dark romance. There is talk of kidnapping, rape, M/S (Master/Slave), she gets shackled, explicit sex scenes, and murder. Please always check trigger warnings before reading if there is something that bothers you.

I loved book 1 in this series and immediately began reading book 2 once I finished. Book 1 includes in the epilogue where Isaac first sees Katia and I was immediately sold on it. I haven't read too much in the M/S trope before, but this book explains it nicely as well as what Isaac needs from the interactions.

In this book there is more give and take unlike in Book 1. Isaac is also scarred in this one and we get to see how she helps him with his issues.

Still love the authors' storytelling and descriptive features. By book 2 you are able to imagine the layout of the club as they enter, even though a lot of this book takes place at Isaac's home. I also love how Isaac helped her mend relationships outside of theirs.

Book Review: A Billionaire Butler for Christmas by Dobi Daniels (Dexington Christmas Billionaires Book 2)

Emily's world comes crashing down when some rich snob gets her fired for getting a coffee for a friend at work. Then her car is towed because that same jerk had it towed for where she parked it. Then she gets a notice at her apartment that she has to move. To make matters worse when she shows up to the job interview she runs into him again. Things could not possibly get worse.

This is another Hallmarky book. It is all the feels and very cutesy. Butler who is loaded's family asks him to help at a Christmas event. After a string of bad luck with one fiery woman the peace of party-planning shouldn't be too bad.

It was a completely adorable low spice contemporary romance. No trigger warnings here other than a crazy ex. Well...crazy ex brother in law? Unless you count age-gap as a trigger. Then there is a bit of an age gap with the characters.

I would absolutely read more by this author in the future. This is book 2 in a series, but I don't feel like I missed out on anything not starting at book 1. From what I can tell thee books can absolutely be read as a stand-alone.

The characters are sweet, the MMC isn't afraid to apologize, and things are well communicated no matter the stage in the relationship Emily and Geoffrey are at.

Book Review: Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez

Alexis' parents are renowned surgeons and her brother followed in those footsteps. So she was left to her own devices. Mostly. Being a lowly ER doctor wasn't in her mother's plans for her, but since she was dating the head surgeon at the hospital it was tolerated. Until she broke up with him for not keeping it in his pants. Now, she's in some nowhere town sitting at a bar. A bet, a grilled cheese, and a baby goat later her life is turned upside down by the sexy Daniel.

I follow narrator Laura Horrowitz on basically everything. About a year and a half ago she and Cooper (don't know his last name, but his Tiktok is Uncle Cooper) were doing a duet style narration of the bar scene and oof. All of the yes. As I read this book I only heard Cooper's voice for Daniel. It. Was. Wonderful.

I have never finished a book so fast and then been DEVESTATED that it was over. I loved Daniel. I loved the goat. I loved the dog. I loved Alexis. Hell I loved the cranky old man down the road. The book was a Hallmark story and was just so sweet.

This is the first book I have read by Abby Jimenez, but I can promise it won't be the last. There is another book in this series, but I haven't read it yet. That being said, this book can absolutely be read as a standalone. No unfinished business and a wonderful epilogue.

I will absolutely be getting a shelf trophy of this to go back and re-read. I genuinely can't think of any potential triggers in this book. There are sex scenes, but they aren't overly descriptive. The ex is whiney and a cheater, but not the kidnap and destroy you kind. It's just a cute hallmarky contemporary romance that is sometimes just what you need.

Book Review: The Cursed by Harper L Woods (Coven of Bones Book 2)

Grey betrayed her. Used her magic and opened a door to Hell. Never told her who he was and NOW he wants her at his side? Her entire life has been a lie. All the years of torture at her father's hands and she fell right into Grey's trap.

This book picks up immediately after book 1. I started this series because someone in one of my smut groups grabbed this book in the series and got as far as "Devil Worship" and was done. For clarity's sake, there isn't any actual devil worship going on. Unless you count worshiping his body...

This book still has the spice that is in book 1, but Willow comes more fully into herself. I still love both main characters and I still hate the same characters as in book 1. Although, they are dealt with in this book, so that's nice.

I love how descriptive this book is from raising the dead to keeping a familiar. Every instance it is like you can see the characters adventures unfold instead of just reading it.

The story is addicting and I was devastated when I got to the end only to realize book 3 hasn't come out yet. As with book 1 this does end on a cliff-hanger leaving you desperate for more. I cannot wait for book 3 and will likely read it as soon as it's released. (October 2025, if you're curious).

The Coven (Coven of Bones Book 1)

Book Review: 30 Nights with the Billionaire by JM Snap (Billionheirs Book 2)

30 nights. She had agreed to this. Her flight had a layover and, of course, there was only one room in the hotel. The man who had sat next to her on the plane offered to split the cost and get to share the room. She agreed and that night they fell asleep together on the couch. Ben didn't sleep. Not without his meds and never well. Except tonight. With Regina. So 30 nights of being his pillow.

This book was adorable from premise to fruition. 1 room at the hotel. I am thinking immediate spice book. But no. It was cute and they fell asleep watching tv together. Only to find out Ben has insomnia and is rarely ever able to rest. He gets real sleep for the first time in years and convinces Regina to be his pillow for the next 30 days. From here the book starts to slowly build on the romance with the FMC often confused as to her actual relationship status with Ben.

I loved EVERY character in this book. Regina, Ben, his parents, his sister, and his best friend. I love the thrown in background romance as well. And her relationship with the bestie? All of the yes.

This is book 2 in a series and I have not read book 1. I don't feel like I missed anything and was clueless going into this read. So, at least with this book in the series, you can read it as a standalone. I fully intent to read more by this author in the future, even if it is very hallmarky.

Book Review: The Blackstone Dragon Heir by Alicia Montgomery (Blackstone Mountain Book 1)

Catherine is on the run from things best left in the past. Matthew doesn't care about anything but his family's company where he just became CEO. He spots her from across the room to where she kept bar and he knew she was his.

This is a dark 'He fell first' with some blackmail. It's very light dark compared to some of my reads. Matthew is the possessive dominant type. Catherine is on the run and not afraid to bolt at a moment's notice.

I listened to the audiobook and completely enjoyed the narration. No weird pronunciations or points where you are unable to differentiate characters. This story is also a very low-spice romance.

I completely enjoyed this book and all of the characters. I liked that his brother tried to hit on her first, but she turned him down before Matthew got her. This is book one in a series that you can choose to continue on or not when finished. There are plenty of background information going on while Matthew and Catherine's story is wrapped up nicely.

I will say that Catherine's antics are largely ridiculous. When it was revealed what she was truly running from, other than her old roommates issues, it felt like a bit of a letdown after all that build-up. There is a bit of a mob aspect and this is a shifter book. Dragons to be exact, although the title of the book gives that one away.

Book Review: Rebel Heart by Anna Lowe (Aloha Shifters Book 0)

Cynthia came home so her dragon could stretch it's wings, but when her car breaks down and a wolf shifter gives her a ride her plans become much more exciting.

This is a prequal. I hope beyond hope they get a book. This book was very 'love them and leave them'. Leaves you begging for the HEA you have been denied. The series is on my TBR so fingers crossed when we get there.

This book starts as a flash back and her saying she is lonely so we know going in that she gets hurt. Still I had hopes it was where it flashes back before picking up in the present and continuing from there to the HEA.

One can hope that is what happens when their book actually begins. Till then the writing style is good and the reader is drawn into the story from page 1. I enjoyed the characters and the bad boy/rich girl set up. I can't really say much more than this without giving away everything within the story.

Book Review: Psycho Fae by Jasmine Mas (Cruel Shifterverse Book 2)

Sadie has been betrayed. Good thing she didn't like Ascher anyways. Much. Jazz and Cobra are here with her as well. Poor Cobra. Forced to deal with the evil Queen again. Then, her kitten was even mixed up in the whole mess. How is she going to get out of these gladiator games the Queen insists on? At least she doesn't have to run...right?

Spoilers. Everything you read in this review - including the above blurb - is a spoiler if you haven't read book 1 yet. Book 2 picks up EXACTLY where book 1 left off. Sadie, Jax, and Cobra have been kidnapped by the Queen they have been fighting. Aran was also captured, for some reason, but they have a secret.

Book 1 was mostly character introduction and establishing backstories. This book has way more character development, so much attitude filled comments (my favorite part of the series), and some new characters. Sadie is still a virgin, but she is intent on changing that. Especially when she finds out that the Fae have literal "Sex Clinics".

Then there is the actual gladiator fights. The Queen is insane. Poor Aran. Although I LOVED what happened at the end of the book. I am trying my best to be vague about the Aran situation.

Be warned. Once you finish Book 2 you will ABSOLUTELY be immediately downloading Book 3. These books are addictive even if they are over 700 pages each.

This book is still very low spice levels. There is oral, toy play, and a bit more towards the end. That being said, I love this series so much. The sheer amount of screenshots and highlights I have from this book. I GARUNTEE my best friend is tired of me trying to force it down her throat. In my defense, I have been telling her to read it weekly since OCTOBER and she still hasn't when it's PERFECTION.

I feel like I should give the normal disclaimers for this book. It's open door enemies to lovers smut. This is a Why Choose/Reverse Harem. There is abuse, rape, torture, kidnapping, bullying, and Touch Her and Die. Also, Xerxes has a thing for blades and Cobra is basically feral. All of these things plus the sheer amount of attitude makes this series my absolute favorite right now. So much love for it.

Book Review: Bought by Willow Winters and Lauren Landish (Highest Bidder Book 1)

Daliah could never sell herself...or could she? Her best friend has told her all about an under-ground club and convinced her to go. To sign up for an auction. She'll have a contract that outlines all of her hard and soft no's and she will go up for bidding. The man who wins her gets her for 30 days. After that what they do is up to them. For Lucian it has been too long since he had a sub and it will be just the thing to get his mind off other issues and the vision in gold on the auction block cannot be denied.

One of the authors of this book (Willow) posted promoting book 1 and I let her know that I would tell her when I posted the review, if she wanted. She did. Anyways, I am going to do my best to keep this book straight as I have read books 1-4 in this series now. Yes, I am behind on reviews. Terribly so. Work in progress.

This is our introduction to the club, future book characters, and of course the main characters in this book. The authors do an amazing job of putting the reader into the book where you can almost see the club and all the activities.

The dynamic in this book is a Sub/Dom where she must refer to him as "Sir" when in private, but remember even in public that he is her dominant. I love the Sub/Dom with the Sir dynamic. It is my favorite by far. I enjoy the title much more than others, especially Master, and the safe words while still relinquishing control and receiving punishments.

I loved the spicy scenes just as much as the non. I will say that the start of the book gives away that it is a HEA. Nothing wrong with a happily ever after. But, it lets the reader know from the beginning that this is more than just fun play.

Zero complaints on this book. Absolutely loved it. There are a bunch of trigger warnings, for those that are concerned. If trigger warnings are something you are leery of versus enjoying please make sure to read the full list before starting the book. It is open door romance with mentions of rape, complications mentally, and murder.

I loved when Daliah opened up to Lucian about her past and he was able to help her move past it. I look forward to more from these authors in the future.

Book Review: Stolen by the Mafia King by Evie Rose (London Mafia Bosses Book)

I had planned the perfect escape. Everything down to the last detail. The night before the wedding where my brother was selling me to pay off his debts I would leave out the window of my room. All I had to do was get to a waiting ride-share vehicle I ordered from my phone and get to the airport. Australia here I come. But, I didn't count on the mafia king being interested in this wedding. Or abducting me during my escape. Back at his house he gives me a chance. Make it to the door before him and I'm free. Don't and I'm his for 24 sinful hours.

This book was one I got during one "Stuff Your Kindle" day or another. It is a fast, but spicy, read. I absolutely loved from start to epilogue. It is an open door dark age gap romance. There are stalking aspects. Not Phantom level, but definitely there. It's adorable. Like I said, I loved it, just letting you know since trigger warnings exist for a reason.

I will say this is not a rape situation. Everything done, while pushing boundaries, is completely consensual. Well....everything sexual.

The characters are great and I'm really trying not to give everything away as it was a quick read. Loved the not one but 2 epilogues jumping into the future and was so yes. Also how the brother situation was handled.

Book Review: The Thug and His Doll by Bea Paige (Princetown Heirs Book 1)

Lia had taken her husband's abuse, but when he turned towards her son she was done. She packed up her small sleeping son into the car with what she could carry and they just drove. They've been sleeping in that car and she's telling him they're on an adventure. What else can she really do? But their funds are running low and she's not sure what options she has. When her son needs to use the bathroom in the middle of the night she does the only thing she can. She takes him into a bar where a man offers her a helping hand. No strings. But help always comes at a price...right?

This book was on one of my smut groups and had an excerpt posted. I downloaded and started reading the book immediately, even if the rest of my TBR didn't like it. Zero regrets. Sweet and spicy with all the touch her and die as well as overprotectiveness that is swoon-worthy. There are triggers in this book as with most I read. Open door. Physical abuse. Mental abuse. This is your heads up if those aren't for you.

I loved all the characters in this book as well as the background buildup between Lucian's best friend and sister. All of the yes. They are in book two although I haven't read that book yet. Loved how this book ended on that front though. All of it was amazing.

I also love that the characters are realistic. No not the basically mob aspect. Lucian is 8 inches and thinks he's large large. The way I cackled at that. Finish one book where he's basically a lamp post then there's an 8 inch brag in this. Don't get me wrong. That is a great and fun size. It's also a realistic size that we've all taken without impaling ourselves. So props there. Then there is Lia. She has had a kid. She has stretch marks and isn't a perfect will-o-wisp. Love that as well.

All in all so well done and look forward to more from this author.
