The Wayward Prince by N. C. Hayes (The Redfern Legacy Book 1)

Shaye Eastly has lived a very non-magical life with her farmer uncle while they eked out a very small life together. Both seemed pleased enough with this life until a stranger appears saying he is here to protect her from soldiers of the mortal realm. Her uncle sends Shaye with Aydan, whom she soon finds is a sorcerer. From here everything she has ever known is quickly called into question. Did the magic wielders want something from her? Were they as evil as they were always said to be when he had just saved her from soldiers? However, it is not just the mortals who are distrustful of sorcerers, it would seem. They crossed over at a bad part of the kingdom for the Wayward Prince and daughter of one who was once the king's best friend and advisor. Will imprisonment and torture of one be enough to quell the blossoming feelings?

I received a physical copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I loved the cover on this book as much as the title. It just gives off vibes of a book you want to impulse pick up and buy. I will start by saying if you are a fan of fantasy young adult romances this is one for you. It is a slow burn romance with characters in their 20s (Yes, Ayden is much older, but that is only because of the whole immortal thing).

The book is amazing from start to finish, although there is still plenty to gather at the end. While the main part of this book was accomplished I truly hope I get to read the next in this series. I truly have no complaints on it. I have to say that I didn't particularly like Stephen at any point, so when the result for his section of the story happened I can't say I was particularly upset.

This book has magic, betrayal, and romance. What more could you ask for? I am sure that there are wonderful and interesting things in store for our characters in the next book and I hope I get to find out!
