Book Review: Wrath by Elle Thorne (Operation Outreach Book 1)

Smyrna wants one thing: to avenge her best friend even if that means traveling to another planet and pretending to want to get hitched to an alien. Caayn has been just fine on his own until now, but his brother put his name into the wife pool with the Earthlings so he has a plan. Capture the women off the transport ship, drop them off somewhere else, go be a pirate. Simple enough. Except his little female is surprising and a bit enticing. But, she has a mate already, and he will get her to him, even if it means giving her up.

Sexy aliens who for once aren't 7 foot, blue, with a vibrating clit stimulator above their shlongs. Not kidding. Ice Planet Barbarians was a whoooleee segway into alien smut books. Anyways. The background for these aliens is that they are humans, but they aren't from Earth. Something about different descendants of the same species going off to make settlements on different worlds and Earth got cut off from communication and technology until the fact that they weren't from there was lost to time. Interesting little backstory that was just randomly dropped into this quick and very sexy book. The spice doesn't spice for most of the book, but when it does.

I am not a big fan of the books that start with the characters basically nonstop lying to each other and then it is just accepted like it was nothing, but to each their own. I try not to judge too harshly just because that isn't my thing. Ignoring that the book was good. I liked the characters. The main part of the book was accomplished completely while leaving off on a part that allows the reader to want to continue reading. I would absolutely read more by this author in the future.

Book Review: Ordered by the Mountain Man by Frankie Love (The Mountain Man Book 2)

Delta just graduated from college and instead of using the money left for her by her grandparents decides to join her two best friends on an adventure. The adventure seems like something straight out of a book. Mail Order Brides. Only, she didn't account for how big Alaska is. Turns out she and her friends are a long ways away and she is here with the impossibly sexy and frustrating Boone. He has to have it his way or no way at all. But, Delta isn't willing to giving up her vegan lifestyle for his animal carcasses. Can they find middle ground or are their differences too many to bear?

I began reading this book on the Libby app and did not know until as I sit writing this review that it was book 2. It reads fine as a standalone. I don't feel like I am missing anything for not having read the first book. Since it was on Libby this was an audiobook.
I started this book with high hopes. Alaskan mountain man and city girl. Classic pairing. He's obviously going to be the stereotypical gruff guy while she is going to be a pain in the ass. These were my thoughts going into the book. The sex in this book was immediate. And I mean immediate. Within 10 minutes of seeing each other for the first time they were having sex. So this book is without a doubt smut.
Boone is, in fact, the stereotypical guy I expected him to be. Unwilling to bend to change anything in his life for his new bride. Controlling. Possessive. Carnivorous-in and out of the bedroom. And sexy to boot. I can't say that I loved his personality, but dominant guys just check something for me. Compromise is a mandate, though. I'm all for being bossed around, but what I have to say needs listened to.
Delta is a vegan hospitality major graduate. She gets sick at the sight of dead animals and thought it would be a wonderful idea to move to an Alaskan hunting lodge...seriously not kidding here. Vegan is an all well and good lifestyle choice, but if you are going to move to a remote location you might want to reconsider. Not the being vegan part. Some people can't handle meat. It's understandable. But remote locations tend to rely heavily on hunting and meat in order to self-sustain.
While they have their differences they aren't  in the bedroom. The amount of sex in this book could, and probably does, take up half the pages. I was mistrustful of Delta at the beginning of the book when it is mentioned that she once had sex with 11 guys at once. Then when she arrives there is Boone's brother Mason and I could just imagine this going towards a MMR, which I don't read. Thankfully Boone's possessive streak won out and that was not something I had to read.
This is a sexy story of finding compromises within their individual struggles.

Book Review: Vork by Ava Ross (Mail-Order Brides of Crakair Book 1)

Evie signed up to be a potential mail order bride to a race of green alien men after a night of drinking Tequila with her best friend. Since a disease wiped out most male humans and most female Crakarians the two planets have formed an alliance. When she is matched with the alien Vork she has 10 days once on his planet to decide if she would like to stay. Everything is so odd on the planet, but Vork is definitely an interesting man. There are so many different customs. When Evie accidentally offends someone it results in Vork having to attend a battle to the death. Can Vork survive this battle?

I found this book on Libby as a change of pace after an audiobook I didn't enjoy a while back. I paused listening to it for a while, then came back to finish it. I generally enjoy mail order bride books and alien books. Not really sure why, but I do. How alien species are portrayed interest me. This book was no different in that regard. I enjoyed the mail order bride aspect and it was interesting to see how the Crakarians were humanoid and yet different at the same time.

That being said there were some things I could not handle about this book. Not about reading it, although I did wonder if the author had ever actually had sex with someone large because their description was...not apt from my experiences. For instance as a water based creature humans depend on it for basically everything. Cleaning, drinking, cooking, everything. However they didn't use water for anything but plant food in this book and it was kind of disturbing.

The book did have some contradictions in it. Like Vork saying he didn't think humans could have the mate bond then his friend and prince's wife already has a mate bond although she is human. There was also a point when another human female said that Evie wouldn't care how many babies she was carrying of her mates when she was pregnant. I promise. When you are pregnant you definitely care about that. It is uncomfortable as hell. I couldn't imagine carrying multiples, let alone not caring about carrying multiples.

Other than that it was a good little alien romance. This book is available on Amazon for $3.99 by clicking here. This is available on Kindle Unlimited.

Book Review: Barbarian Prince by Michelle M. Pillow

B00LZZI2UY    Morrigan is a reporter for the intergalactic news-chip and her mission is to uncover the truths about the barbarian qurilixen people re-virginizing their women before mating them off to be brides (becoming a bride is their choice.) When she meets Ualan she feels instantly attracted to him and even momentarily forgets her purpose there. But despite her best efforts she ends up married to the large caveman.
Ualan cannot understand his new wife. She desires him and yet she forces herself into slavery just to not have to deal with him. It is one thing after another with her and she keeps threatening to leave him. Gods, he will never understand this little woman who makes him love her despite her best efforts.
Interesting story about space travel and big dragon shifters. The shifters are not a normal portrayal but the whole reporter falls for her story thing has been done so many times it is almost a cliché. It was cute though because you weren't entirely sure if they were going to stay together or not.

Book Review: Bond by Tasha Black (Intergalactic Dating Agency Book 1)

Pro pbid 3584877    Have you ever wondered what a real alien would be like? Neither had Posey when she and her two friends went to the little town of Stargazer to sell her eggs.
Once she gets there she learns that not only are aliens real but that they have just signed on the be their brides.
"I don't want to be an alien bride" the words flashed like a neon sign in her head any time she was around Bond, the alien who had chosen her.
Can she get past the fact that he is an alien and truly find love?
I will shamelessly state that I love love love mail order bride books. I am not really sure why, but I completely do. And apparently anything alien related. Weird, right? None the less this book is great and book 2 is on my eventual TBR. I am going through my old posts and updating them to include a link for purchase. This book is available on Amazon for free by clicking here.
